True, but it should at least look like me. Not like I'm in drag wearing blush and flaming red lipstick.RedRaider29 wrote: This is a concealed handgun license not a beauty contest! Besides, how many people are you planning on showing this to?

Re: July '08 Applications
Mine is the old style too. But there was a post somewhere here where it was stated that DPS was temporarily having the licences printed before the background checks were completed to help speed things up. So it is possible it was 'sitting around', but only because it was printed early on in the process.brianko wrote:Strange thing is that I got one of the old-style licenses...which would indicate to me that my license might have just been sitting around, waiting to be mailed out (as I understand the new licenses are being sent out).
BTW, as someone else mentiond, my picture looks terible too. Way too red. Not sure if I will call to complain.

Re: July '08 Applications
Plastic arrived today (took 3 days). So total time 79 days.poppo wrote:Woo hoo!! Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
76 days since DPS received package.
Now the next wait checking the mailbox every day.
Also FWIW, I did send a gripe e-mail to the governor's office on day 61 and got a reply from them that they would look into it. I never heard anything else from that, so I don't know if it helped or not.
Good luck to the rest of you and I hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

Re: July '08 Applications
I finally called DPS since they are not replying to my e-mails. The lady who answered transfered me to someone else. When that person finally picked up, I heard her jibber jabbering about some personal stuff to someone else for about a minute before she actually said hello. No wonder nothing is getting done. Of course I got the standard 'waiting on FBI' answer and to call back in 2 weeks. You would think with the billions we pumped into homeland security, it would take about 5 seconds to pull up a background check.

Re: July '08 Applications
I think there would be a lot less 'anger' here if things were working in a FIFO manner. But some are getting their's in less than 60 days and some who have lived in one place all of their lives are waiting forever. It's almost like some of the processors are actually doing their job and others are spending the day surfing the Internet or something.clark_griswold wrote: I've called twice since then for an update, and every time all I get is the canned speech about how they've had a huge increase in applications and are running 60 days behind.
I've sent several e-mails asking specifically where in the background check the the hold up is (they originally said they were waiting on background checks) and I have not received a single reply since that original one.

Re: July '08 Applications
I recall reading in another thread that the DPS was temporarily having the licenses printed before the checks were done to speed things up. But then I came across this http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... cement.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not sure if it's old news, but could be the reason for the printing delays.jee wrote:Got a call yesterday afternoon from Simone and she said plastic was being printed. Re: July '08 Applications
Well, officially on day 60, so I guess i can start complaining too.
I'm retired from the military and held a top secret clearance. It didn't take this long to get that clearance, and it certainly didn't take this long to load us up on a plane to go to Iraq.

Re: July '08 Applications
Just for the heck of it, I sent an e-mail late last night to see if I could get a better status than 'processing application'. I got a very quick reply this morning but it was just a useless 'Processing means we are processing it'.

Just curious. Did it just say "Application complete" or "Application completed - license issued or certificate active"jaf wrote:Good news! I just returned home from vacationing in Colorado and found my Pin in the mail. Checked the website and was surprised to see "Application Complete"!
Just seems too quick at only 40 days.

Re: July '08 Applications
FWIW, DPS received my package on July 22. Just for kicks I requested a PIN yesterday via e-mail. Got PIN today and status is Processing application. So things do seem to be moving a little quicker. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned something about veterans possibly being processed faster. I'm retired military, so I don't know if that has any bearing or not.
