I’ve finally decided that I’m going to register my Saiga-12 shotgun as a short barrel shotgun, then cut it down and re-port it. The only hurtle is that for the ATF form 5320.1 (Form 1 - Application to Make and Register a Firearm) I need the signature of a chief law enforcement officer, district attorney or county sheriff. How should I go about procuring one of these? Does anyone have any leads that can help point me in the right direction?
I’m a licensed CHL holder in TX…so I’m a responsible firearms owner. Furthermore, I’m an ER/ICU nurse at Parkland Hospital and in general, we have extensive contact with law enforcement (sheriffs and police) throughout the hospital…The LEOs are very curious and have a general respect for medical professionals (nurses specifically) and I feel that this may help provide me with a slight advantage. Any input as to where I can get one of these signatures would be appreciated. Thanks.
