Even when safety measure is not forced by a law, applying such measure by the gun owner may save his kids life, or avoiding unintentional discharge of said gun and maybe saving another family member life

Why complicate the issue?
1) Gun control laws, is a restriction on Good guys that limits their ability to defend themselves against bad guys.
2) Gun control laws, is a protection for bad guys from the use of deadly force by the good guys when good guys defend selves and others.
The gun control law is for the good guys or the bad guys?
On the the other hand, measures such as Safe storage, training and qualification, even court-ordered disarming of a citizen due said citizen Mental health issues are reasonable and effective.
