And, how in the world the Prosecution would prove that fact?Ashlar wrote:Actually, the lead detective on the case wanted to charge Zimmerman that night, but the PA decided not to. And after seeing the videotape of Zimmerman from multiple cameras at the PD, I'd have a hard time buying his story, too.A-R wrote: This is the biggest red herring of all. Martin "wasn't committing a crime" ... NEITHER WAS ZIMMERMAN!
So you get two guys, both a little nervous about each other. And they meet face-to-face (won't bicker over HOW this happened or who started it, because it doesn't matter). So they meet, and what happens? Trayvon PUNCHES ZIMMERMAN! Then pounds his head REPEATEDLY into the ground (concrete, asphalt, grass?). Someone PUH-LEEZE tell me what JUSTIFICATION Trayvon Martin had to punch Zimmerman and then repeatedly pound his head into the ground?!?!?!!?
This is the crux of the whole case. BOTH men were leery of the other. BOTH men were behaving lawfully ... until Martin behaved unlawfully, attacked Zimmerman physically, and Zimmerman had to defend himself.
I realize my conclusions are based largely on police report which is based largely on Zimmerman's statements. But his statements were verified ENOUGH by eyewitnesses, physical evidence, etc. that the police and more importantly the PROSECUTOR believed it (despite one investigator's misgivings).
As for the accusation that WE - members of this forum - sound racist ... come on, LightningRocks, you're better than that. I applaud you for defending your beliefs in this case but sinking to that level? That's just not you.
My guess is that Zimmerman grabbed, tried to detain, or tackled Martin- and if so, he's toast.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger
Mr. ZImerman told police investigators that he lost sight of Mr. Martin who in turn ambushed and attacked said Zimerman. Phy. Evidence do support his story in addition to an eye witness who called 911. In absence of the eye witness or Mr. Martin had been attacked by punches or been grabbed, etc... Those acts will leave some phy. evidence. Prosecutors and Police officers are not that idiots they can smell a bull story. That is more so with good homicide investigators.

Mr. Zimmerman can move to Canada or Europe or Australia and starts a new life as an immigrant. Problem solved.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger
One has to add, if the shooter has had bad intention and wanted to "hunt" someone, would he call 911 to report a suspicious person?
I hate those lawmakers who spout hate and lies and make out a story from another world instead of learning of basic fact. I guess this is the job of DA and Special investigators.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger
That changes the whole story now? The shooter was on the ground being pounded, on top is Mr. Martin. An eyewitness with 911 on the phone seeing everything. The witness said the one laying on the ground was screaming for help. This make the shooter not BSing. One can't retreat if he was pinned downed.
This is why the PD did not arrest.

Don't you hate it when CNN opens the segmenets with the controversial "SHOOT first, ask questions later" law. I thought this what is taught to military boys not to argue with their commanders.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger
If he tried to detain the young man, then he is in real trouble. If the young kid attacked the one who was trying to follow him, then it is a totally different story. Man, this case is nasty!

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger
Stand your ground is my right. I do not retreat. If I am jailed is still better than dead. BGs do not retreat they attack with no regard to your life or theirs or the law for that matter.
