When a cop sees a car stopped on the side of the road and a known prostitute standing outside the car, two and two isn't hard to come by. That doesn't give them the right to search the car (normally a cop would ask for permission - most people give it), but it is reasonable suspicion that an illegal transaction may be taking place.
One can easily prove a drug transaction is being busted by presence of drugs. How do you prove solicitation of prostitution unless it was under cover sting?

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

You just have to wonder what happens when a person is carrying under MPA and he did not tell the officer that there is a firearm in the car. Would he get the Canton's treatment? :woohoo

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

Best outcome, the crazy LEO fired, the second one disciplined retrained. The LEO would refereed to Feds Prosecutor if they are interested in filing charges.
City would:
1) Apologizes
2) Drop all charges
3) instate re-retraining dealing with CHLers
4) settle with victim for undisclosed sum (~ $200K).

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

I had 2 contacts with LEO, one in speeding stop with my family in the car and one in car accident. In first case, when I was asked for ID, I presented both DL and CHL and declared that I am CHLer and I am carrying. I was asked where it was I said it is in my funny pack weak side. That was it and I got the ticket too.
In the second case, I was outside the car and I presented both DL and CHL and the lady officer just said, I do not need your CHL and asked where is my firearm. I pointed it is in my funny pack weak side. That was it.

In both case, no one asked me to get out of car, disarmed, and treated like what happened in to this man in Ohio. So shocking!

jimandyen wrote:In Ohio does Law Enforcement know when they look up a vehicle plate number

In the video it almost looks like they knew and were avoiding the driver on purpose so they could set
him up for not telling them.... :???: crazy.
In TX, CHL info tied to DL not vehicle plate number. In Ohio, it is the case, tied to the vehicle plate number. Those 2 officers did so many things wrong, including not paying attention to CHL info when they run the numbers. Also, Why they did not address the driver first is still... :headscratch

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

Interview with the driver: http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_ ... ce-officer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note from the court paper:
A court summons indicated, "Subject had concealed upon his person one .38 Cal Ruger pistol that was loaded and ready to fire. Subject did not inform police officers that he had a CCW permit through Stark County until the weapon was discovered during a pat down of his person during a traffic stop of his vehicle."
The above statement contradicts what is in the video, since he clearly had the CHL in one hand and DL in the other and told the officer that his armed before the pat down. This gets him cleared quickly by the judge.

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

I could not resist, I waited until all video has been buffered and forward to 5 min or so. but WOW, even skipping the the insecure search of the vehicle while the driver is still in his seat!. I could not believe it. This is the worst search I ever saw. Both cops should be disciplined for this non-procedure search. Also, why in the world the driver was not asked for DL and Insurance from the get go? why the cop did not ask if there are any weapons in the car?

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

Why does it take more than 1 month to investigate this case? At least the bully crazy LEO should be fired by now. Why it is not the case? Why State troopers or FBI is not on this case for civil rights violations?

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

At least at the end of the video, the crazy cop liked that "stupid, little gun" and called it "a nice gun too!"

The officer should be fired and never be on duty ever. "At least for threatening pull up his gun and pump 10 rd in the driver...." This is clearly a deadly threat punishable by the law.

Re: OH - LEO Notification goes BAD, really BAD.

The video is too long, in addition, I am afraid that I would not like what I see. So, I did not watched more than the first 2 mins.
I hope someone will watch it and learn form it.
