As a side benefit, you'll get some good trigger time. Maybe attend an appleseed, nra personal protection course, or (if the bonus will allow) head out to gunsite, tacpro, or thunder ranch for some top flight instruction.

What about getting started in one of the many competitions. Pick up a rig or get the gear for what you have and start shooting some high power, idpa, or other matches. Good way to hone your skills and meet some like minded individuals.

Last option, get a. 22 rifle and pistol. I've found that because of the low cost of ammo, people tend to shoot more often and end up better shots. Ruger mk iii and 10/22 are as good a place to start as any.
