The gun may not necessarily obvious (in regards to showing or printing) but to a first time CHLer it FEELS obvious. There's a mental hurdle to get over. Society in general has been trained to think guns are bad and a gun in public is especially evil and means a crime is about to be committed. Even us gun-lovers have a mental hurdle to clear even though we know it is perfectly safe and perfectly legal.
