cwsample - I suggest that you do not email but call your state senator's office. No need for any explanation other than 'it's been X days and I don't have it, can you help please?' Call DPS first so you can tell them you did that too.
I now personally know 5 people (including myself) who received their plastic within 2-10 days of calling their state rep. All received calls from DPS with offers to overnight their plastic.

Re: August Applications
Well - I'm in Harris County and I got mine last week (around 70 days I think - math and I are not friends).
I've decided the following factors contributed in getting mine done so timely:
It's worth a polite call to your state representatives.
I've decided the following factors contributed in getting mine done so timely:
- Called DPS for status at day 60.
Called my TX State Senator's office in Austin on day 60 to ask for their help.
Donated to TX State Senator's re-election campaign on day 55.
Called State Senator back on day 65.
DPS called me on day 66 to say they were working on it.
DPS called me again on day 68 to say it was in the mail.
UPS delivered my overnight plastic the next day.
It's worth a polite call to your state representatives.

Re: August Applications
Called DPS today to inquire. I noticed at least one other person who submitted on the same day I did got their plastic this week. The DPS person was very pleasant and helpful. She told me the license is ready to go except the FBI background check has yet to be completed, and that the hurricane will delay that. She did not know how long the delay would be.
I did not ask why Harris County would be a delay in an FBI background check. Can someone explain the process to me?
Thanks

Re: August Applications
This waiting room is really nice... such pleasant art work on the wall... oh, and a TV too!
Wait, this is my house...
Just thought I'd stop by and have a 'sit' with everyone else.
