Re: Fort Worth Gun Show
The way I figure it, it costs me $10.00 to got to the movies and I have to leave when they tell me to. At the gun show, I can look at all the shiny new toys (and some that are blued instead of shiny) for as long as I like, leave if I want to, and even come back in if I want. The gun shows in Mesquit...

Re: Wife with RA...recommendations?
I know your wife does not like wheelguns, but my wife who has had RA for more than 15 years had trouble with slides of semi's and also just loading the mags were hard for her. But that Rossi .38-spl J-frame I got for her is easy to manipulate, easy to load, and she can eat the center out of a target...

Re: I wanna a 1911
+111111111111 on the Rocks. I have 2, one is a compact, the other a full sized and they are both solid, reliable, and accurate. The compact is my usual carry and I have not had one failure with it in thousands of rounds (I've lost track). The full sized is a tactical, 2-toned model and is just as so...

Re: Question for the 1911 gurus
I'd suggest you go to:
http://forum.m1911.org/forumdisplay.php?f=17
and ask your question there. That is a RI forum that is monitored by the excellent customer service folks at RIA. Lots of very knowledgable people there. I love my RI compact and I also have the standard single spring in mine.

Re: WTB: 1911 Sub/Ultra Compact
Try a Rock Island compact (cs) model. 3 1/2" barrel, 1911 in .45 cal.
This one's mine:
If you're in the Dallas area, there's a gun show in Mesquite this weekend and you can probably find one. Mine was under 400.00 2 years ago.

Re: Need some input here
Statistics are funny things that can be manipulated to give an intended outcome. Showing numbers of deaths is meaningless unless it is as a percentage of population. Here's a good site with information that can be usefull: http://www.statemaster.com/graph/cri_mur_wit_fir-death-rate-per-100-000"...

Re: First Buck
And I'm 35! Crazy. Well I'm 58 and went hunting for the first time about 4 years ago. Didn't get to go this year, but here's last years 'catch': http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh458/dadoo57/bambi.jpg That Rifle I'm holding is older than both of us together; it's a M1917 Remington from WWI! :pat...

Re: Too many?
I must be different. I have two 1911's, a .38 BUG and a 9mm carbine in the a problem arises closet. I feel that I have enough guns (did I mention the nearly 100 year old M1917 30.06 Remington? :txflag: )Oh, and my wife has her .38spl as well. I only carry one gun at a time, and because I don't live ...

Re: Best 1911
So basically, you can get parts from a Full Sized Kimber 1911 and throw them in a Rock Island, I mean like the Barrell, Trigger, Slide? Can they take the same magazines? If I go on the Brownells website can I order parts and put them in my Rock Island? AFAIK you can. As long as the barrel is the sa...

Re: Best 1911
With all the Springfield, Kimber, Taurus, and others being mentioned, I would have to ask a couple of questions: What is this gun for? is it just to have a 1911 that you can pass on? Or do you want a good solid EDC that is accurate, dependable and reliable? Someone suggested a Rock Island as a "...

Re: 1911's vs. other semi-automatics
There are many technical reasons for loving the 1911. Many have mentioned they just "feel right", well they do and the reason for that is the design. the angle between the handle and the line of the barrel, where the web of your hand lays, and more, all go into making the gun feel comforta...

If you have the opportunity to shoo on private property, I like water bottles filled with red Jello. Great visuals and you can really see the effect your gun will have.Bonc_CHL wrote:Does anyone have a favorite target for shooting at the range?

Re: Glock/Springfield XD/Kahr/Berreta
:iagree: +1 on the gun show. Handle every gun that fits your price range and caliber choice. Compile a list of the top 3 or 4 that you like and then do a little research. Go to your local gun store and ask them, check out other boards and/or forums, even see if your local gun range will let you rent...
