Having had my PD-rolled prints rejected once by DPS for my renewal, I decided to go the FAST route.lrb111 wrote:The prints are still "rolled", so all the inconsistencies that can occur still occur. Other than their being an additional database of fingerprints in a civilian agency.
I won't rant on this.
It's rather slick: The prints are graded for quality, and the person who did my prints was very conscientious about getting a score higher than 92 on my prints (most were 95 or better). Some of my fingers have quite a bit of scarring, and the computer picked these areas up as "lower quality" than the remainder of the print. I asked her about whether or not they keep a record of the prints. She said the prints are deleted at the end of each day, so there's no way to get a "reprint" without having your prints rolled again.
Of course, she could have been lying to me. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. And it's not as if several gov't agencies don't already have my prints from security clearances, and since much of that is now contracted out, I imagine my prints are with more than one contractor as well.
The day my CHL renewal arrives will be the day I deem the FAST route a success or failure...
