Re: July '08 Applications
Well whada ya know! I had checked my status last night and it said processing. I grunted as usual, played around on the net, and went to bed. Wake up sick and late for work. So as I think the day is just going to be a downhill slide, I check the door which has a sticky from the UPS which said DPS on it! Overnighted to me, shiny and new. Total time was just under 90 days. I am sure it was in no doubt due to contacting Gov. Perrys office. So if you are still lingering in your process then you might want to consider doing so. That state rep never even returned my email, but I am sure there are others who would be more than willing to help. Time to pack up my things and move out of the waiting room. Good luck guys.

Re: July '08 Applications
Okay....day 77 in total and 32 days since new prints were sent and nothing has been told to me except that they are still processing my application. So what do you think? Should I hold off till 90 days before I start writing my rep? The will be Oct. 13th....not that I am counting or anything. Might make it worse since technically they have more time due to the "bad prints" of the first go around...I think they get an additional 90 or 120 from date of resubmission. All I know is this is getting frustrating at this point, but I know I am not the only one.

Re: July '08 Applications
Talked to the same woman at DPS and she said they are still just waiting on the FBI. So is no news truly good news? Not sure when it comes to the state. Big ups for having found that nugget of information though.... seems like it should be in a sticky in the appropriate section of the site. Sorry to hear about the rejection though...at least I can empathize with the frustration that ensues after such news.jee wrote:I just called FAST to set appointment for third set of prints. do it again.
Looked it up on the FBI website and she is right.

This is funny because me and my dad were complaining about this exact issue like crazy just yesterday! +1HankB wrote:DPS has had my renewal for 45 days - still "processing application."

If a government agency fails to complete THEIR task on time, as the law requires, there are NO consequences.

You feel that? Thats the winds of progress my friend! Hopefully the new prints won't be rejected due to my pinky having poor ridges BUT some change is better than none! Status has gone back to processing application. Things are moving!

Re: July '08 Applications
All right guess I need to pair up with you because ours is going to the same place, mine will be there tomorrow. But I also went to FAST and sent to the same woman. Who did you call at the FBI? Or did the DPS tell you that?jee wrote:Had finger prints redone at FAST location yesterday, then sent to Austin via UPS overnight deleivery, attention MS Coffy.
they should be there before noon today. The FBI did say they did a name only check with negative results so hope that speeds things up.
Day 59 and counting.

Re: July '08 Applications
I think high standards are good because it leaves less room for scrutiny if there is a major dispute over the issue meaning political. However, as I and a few others are experiencing, this fingerprinting delay stuff is ridiculous and there just seems to be a lot of pitfalls that can snag you if you do all the paperwork yourself. I know the state has the FAST service that they recommend and I will try them....again....but there needs to be some more streamlined and definite processing IMO. Like one certified place that does all that is required so there is less room for error. But I am sure it would get mucked up like most bureaucratic offices out there so who knows if it would work. Bottom line....high standards are good overall.ambitman wrote:Georgia CL...My friend applied for his Georgia application 30 days ago. He got his plastic yesterday. Georgia does not have the same requirements that Texas does. I am glad we have higher standards but because of reciprocation my friend could carry in Texas today while we all wait. What is wrong with this picture? I support our high standards and I think we should require license holders from other states to have the same high standards or Texas soul not reciprocate.
What are your thoughts?

Re: July '08 Applications
Well just got prints done at San Marcos PD and I think they look worse than the original! But I will be going to the FAST place to get a set of freebies tomorrow and off they go BACK to Austin. Why can't this ever be easy?

Re: July '08 Applications
FANTASTIC news from the grapevine.....check status this morning on DPS website. "Application incomplete- missing information-letter sent" So I call the DPS to ask what was missing, which to their credit the gentleman was as helpful as could be and polite, but he had no more to tell me than something was missing on the fingerprint card and that the letter had all the details regarding the issue. Thankfully I live about 30 mins from Austin so I suspect I will figure out what is wrong in the next day or so. But needless to say, frustration level has shot up a few points....

Re: July '08 Applications
Well guys, good things must be happening at the DPS because on a whim I checked the DPS website today and was shocked to see the the status had moved to "processing application"! I know it will still take a good bit of time, but it gives me hope that at the very least we won't be waiting more than 90 days. Could be the optimist in me, could be the overly optimistic in me. But its just nice to see that SOMETHING is moving right? So keep on checking guys...those new temps must be workin hard!

Re: July '08 Applications
*Takes a number* Whew.....looks like I got some waitin to do. No matter how prepared, no matter how punctual....always waiting at the DPS. I have my pin, but whenever I check it it says packet mailed to applicant. Guess that will change when they get around to working on it (I got the return receipt). My prediction is (since my luck is usually bad) I will be late October. I didn't feel the absolute strongest about the finger prints, but I did it exactly as the lady at the Hays County Sheriffs Dept instructed me to and she even commented "you are better than most as they try to press....you done this before?" and had to say "Unfortunately, yes..." So somewhere in the system I KNOW they have a great set lol. Spending a night in juvie will 15 scare you straight....nuff said.
I haven't even carried yet and I already feel naked *sigh* Like someone else said, at least it will be getting cold and give me a little more leeway to pack my CZ P-01.
