I have also seen the carnage firsthand that a large dog can wreak.
I know a guy who lost the use of his right arm due to having a tendon severed in a dog attack...the guy was a concrete finisher. He lost his job his home and ultimately his wife and family because of the injuries he sustained and medical bills that resulted....that dog attack RUINED HIS LIFE!
I will KILL in the most efficient manner possible any large dog that threatens me or my family. Period. If people love "Fido" so much....keep him on your property and we won't have any issues. People get stupid when you talk about dogs...I have heard people say things like- "If somebody shoots my dog I'd shoot them".
If it were instead of a dog a 1,500 lb Black Angus Bull that some idiot let roam the neighborhood terrorizing people would anyone in their right mind argue about putting a bullet in it's head? Bulls kill very few people and I would guess that 99% of those they kill are either bull riders or farmers/ranchers- people who are directly involved with them out of personal choices. It's not like they are running around in suburban neighborhoods in large numbers at will. But somehow since it's a dog it's ok and we should use restraint and use less effective means to end a potentially threatening attack....No thanks, Fido gets a 230 grain lead sedative.

Re: Dog attack and CHL
Amaguy....short for Amarillo? Saw that dog attack in the paper.
Know that there is a city ordinance prohibiting the discharge of firearms within city limits. Also know that one of the specified exemptions for this is the shooting of a dangerous dog on your own property. Not of much help when out walking but in talking to the "powers that be"....they have pretty much declared war on biting dogs in this town. Shoot them at will.
