Re: Has anyone had experance with "The Judge"?

Thank You QB and My04! The information sure helps. I think I will buy the SS model with the 6 inch barrel. I will do some "tests" with some water jugs at the range and post the results along with pics. I will invite Jim along if he will come and we will do the "Redneck Review"--LOL. I think I can have one in my hot little hands by this time next month--LOL

I really do thank you both, there is nothing like REAL experance to learn from. I do love the internet and watching the vidio's of people shooting... But you guys KNOW what it will and will not do. Thanks

my04heritage wrote:Ok I have one and I will tell ya what I have learned about it. I bought the judge 3" bbl about 6 months ago. I got it for in the house protection. The reason at the time was that the shotgun pellets would not be to much of a problem going through the walls into the other rooms. Go figure?? Now that I have it here is my two cents worth. At about 30feet it will put a .45lc fmj through a 2x4 like slicing butter. When using shotgun shells I have found a few things. The shot rapidly dispurses, I mean rapidly! First I tried #8 shot and found that after firing a round or two you could not get the spent shell out of the chamber unless you pried it out. Ok, next I tried a #7.5 I think. It worked and fired like a champ each time. Next went to #4shot and again no problems.Next tried 000 buck shot. again no problems. For home protection I keep 000 buck shot chambered in it and it is not my main tool. That would be my trusty 1911. But it is fun to shoot and makes one hellllllllo of a bang when using the shotgun shells. Plug you ears!! Got a good kick also, but I can handle it. Just my thoughts, not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Be careful shoot safe.
Wow--I can't believe anyone steped up and ADMITED owning one--LOL Thanks My04! Did you buy the model that shoots the 3 inch 410 shells? Would you recmend the 3 inch or the 6 inch barrel? Could you tell me what kind of place you bought yours from? What would you say the penitration would be at 10 foot with that 000 buck? I don't understand why the #8 shells would not eject, was it the shells or a problem with the Judge? O and one more thing, do you wish you hadn't bought it?

Thank You,

Oh, it would hurt.

It's also unlikely to effectively, quickly, stop an attacker.
KB, That depends on where the 4.5 inches penetration happens--LOL

The review in queston is the only review that came up with poor results, whats more, the guy said at the begining he didn't like the Judge and olny reviewed it because he was asked to.

It is really a moot question, in my mind, the lack of penetration is more than overcome by the fact you don't have to be shooting dead on target to get an impact. If you load a long colt round after the 410, I am sure penetration will not be a issue.

I have not a doubt a 12 guage shotgun would be a better choice. The problem is finding a draw holster for one--LOL

Re: Has anyone had experance with "The Judge"?

Ok I am convenced!!! I AM BUYING ONE--LOL

You all know some firearms are like fishing lures; better on the fisherman than the fish.

Well, as I said, I have allways been a 410 fan, I own a little H&R snake charmer I love. I am sure you are all right but I have a hank-er-in for this handgun and I am buying one.

As for the effectiveness of a 410 at close range (up to 10 foot) I don't think anyone would want to argue with me. Besides I am moving into that GEEZER age and can buy buy something just because I like it--LOL

Thanks for all the input, I will post after I buy one and let you guys know how much fun this thing is to shoot!! :fire

According to them and every other authoritative source that I have heard or read, no .410 load is suitable for self-defense.

I would rather have a .357 Magnum revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun. That's 11 rounds of devastating power. If that doesn't fix your problem, you needed air support. ;-)

Top of the mornin to ya Jim,
What got me looking into the Judge was a review I read on this forum by LedJedi. I looked back and read it again. http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... lit=review

The law outlawed short shotguns because?

I am still convinced this would be a great gun for a Groop of snakes (you KNOW we have had our snake problems around here--LOL

Truth is, I have allwas loved the 410 guage shotgun. I just thing it would be a lot of fun to shoot. I would allways have my CZ as well.

Re: Has anyone had experance with "The Judge"?

My mistake, I missed your point.

I believe the Judge loaded with 3 inch shot shell fired at 15 to 30 foot would give a more desireable result than any standard round. I am told the pattern would be large a lot faster than in a long gun with a smoth bore. I believe it would "convence" a groop of dogs, cats, snakes... to go elsewhere.

Also, you can't enjoy Skeet with 357--LOL

For curiosities sake, may I ask why, specifically?
Well Xander, I don't want to tell you "specifically". My job will require me to stay on this island in case of a storm. The storm don't worry me, but I watched enough Katrinia coverage to cause me some concern in the aftermath. I was not in N.O. at the time but I worked as a subcontractor to a electric company that had guys I knew there before the wind stopped blowing. The stories related to me by these guys after the storm raised the hair on the back of my ole neck--LOL.

There were GROOPS of BG's roaming the streets and confronting anyone who might get in there path.

Needless to say, the thought of a handgun that would offer some protection when there is more than one BG is right up there on my list. Useing a long gun (12 guage shotgun) would not be practical for my situation.

Let me say here in the intrest of the "legal" types. I ain't lookin to shoot someone, I want it to shoot skeet with--LOL

Has anyone had experance with "The Judge"?

Thoughts of the aftermath of a huricain has me wanting to buy a "Judge" 4510TKR revolver. I see on the web that there are several different models. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would also be interested in finding out where you bought yours and if one place is better than another. I have have never bought a firearm over the internet but the prices are tempting.

Thank You,
Galveston Redneck
