Anyone have any idea what the record for the longest wait is??

Plastic arrived today.

Took only 4 months and change for the whole process.

Thanks - its really been patience trying. Now the hardest part - waiting on the letter......

Looks like Heather was right. It took 24 hours, but the web site updated this AM and finally displayed the message we all wait for:

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active


126 days from receipt of application to getting this message.

Now we have to see how long the USPS takes to get a letter from Austin to Kingwood.

After getting perturbed and e-mailing the Governor's office, I got a call from Heather this AM saying that my license was going out today. Web Site still shows "processing application". I presume that it is actually being sent and the web site is just not updated.

125 day mark was today. Hopefully the mail doesn't really take 10 days to get to Houston from Austin. I could ride a bicycle there and back a couple of times in 10 days.

I hear you. I sent them a nasty e-mail on Friday asking how they could possibly explain new applicants from May and June getting their cards long before April applicants. It makes no sense at all.

Are there any April applicants left still waiting or am I the last one??

"Processing Application"

116 days and counting since DPS received the application.

Still here too. I'm starting to get the feeling this is just not going to happen.

Hit 110 days today. Apparently I'm no closer to getting past "processing application" than I was a month ago.

Guess that escalation to the Governor's office really did no good.

Harris County. I'm sure they are probably slower than just about every other county.

Just chekced again. Still "processing application". 108 days and counting.

I know I probably didn't help myself by escalating to the Governor's office, but if my status doesn't change this week, I am going to do it again.

This has been one of the most frustrating things I can remember in decades.

Got a letter today from the Thomas Davis, Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, stating that the agency is in receipt of my e-mail to the Governor's office regarding my application for CHL. The basics:

"We regret the delay in processing your application. During the past six months we have received a significant increase in applications, which created a backlog in processing. We will make every attempt to expedite the processing of your application. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jan Coffer, Manager, Concealed Handgun Licensing Bureau." Phone # and e-mail were included.

Well - at least I found out that the Governor's office acted on my e-mail and phone call. Now I am wondering if this is going to help or hurt..........

I can't think of anything I could of done that would be more frustrating that this. Day 106 for me today and still the dreaded "processing application". Phone calls are a waste of time and e-mails the governor (twice), calling his office once, and e-mailing representatives has had zero effect. A while back I jokingly said halloween would be the target date on a application they rec'd April 25th. I am now thinking that Thanksgiving may be a more accurate prognostication.

I would really like an answer as to why people who applied over a month after me are getting their cards and mine is still processing.

All of the addresses I listed were in Harris County - work and residences.

I know from experience in the military that there is a computer system used for basic backround checks that runs your name/ssn with the federal and state agencies. Checking this system takes just a matter of minutes and reports any convictions or problems on your record. It sounds to like the state has tried to recreate the wheel on the CHL and is using some homegrown contraption that takes weeks to do the same funtion.
