Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!

Looks like I am late to the party, but I'd like to share some of my shooting group's experiences there with "Walt" the range wiz....that is the main RO nazi that causes the most problems.

Not counting the innumerable times that Walt has tried to correct various things such as time between shots, his 2-seconds must be about 5 seconds long, shooting position, etc....here are some of the better craptastic moments that have caused us to vow NEVER to return.

1- Guy in our group buys a new pistol, a Bersa .380. He takes the time to degrease it and properly lube it up per the firearms instructions. He starts experiencing some failure to feeds. Walt proceeds to amble over and give his "expert" opinion that he is shooting a "european" firearm and needs to use "European" ammunition. Interesting I am about 99% sure that Bersa is South American made and the need for European ammunition is just ridicules. THEN, Walt pulls out an oil can and proceeds to drench the pistol in oil to the point that it was literally dripping from it. The problem, BTW ended up being an overly tighy magazine, which was just not broken in.

2- Guy in our group is shooting a pistol, and has been literally since he was a kid, military trained, etc. Walt ambles on over again telling him that he "can not shoot like that" and that he will injure himself. Mind you, this is how this guy has shot his pistol all of his life including military matches. (He used a left thumb on the right wrist, which if positioned wrong MIGHT have gotten him a slide bite, but has not done so in YEARS.)

3- Guy in our group comes out with his kid and Walt throws such a fit in front of the kid about him LOADING a .22 magazine that they just up and leave. Mind you he is not loading the mag into a weapon ,nor is there a weapon even close to him. He is sitting there loading and waiting for a turn to come up and shoot under the close supervision of his father!

4- Several guys in our group kicked off range for the mere possesion of FMJ rounds on the rifle range, not shooting them, just possession of them.

5- Another great Walt moment is when anothe guy in our group was there shooting his .17 revolver. He has the butt of the pistol on a sand bag and is trying to get it zero'd in when Walt decides that him resting the BUTT of the .17 on the bag will hurt the bag and chews him out over it. Interestingly enough, there is a youtube video of a guy with a large magnum revolver on a sandbag and the bag is holding up fine and there is no Walt jumping him butt over it.

These are a few reasons why we will NEVER visit Quail Creek Shooting range again, we voted with our cash to spend it elsewhere.
