It looks like a bit of confusion has crept into the coordination between the DFW West / Southwest Quadrant Breakfast and the new Way Out West group breakfast.
A few weeks ago we settled on the Way Out West group meeting at Manny's in Hudson Oaks on the 4th Saturday of the month which in July is the 27th (next Saturday) to avoid conflict with the DFW West / Southwest group that meets on the third Saturday in Arlington.
If you're going to a breakfast today you need to go to Rudy's in Arlington. If you're going to breakfast next Saturday you need to go to Manny's.
I'll see you folks next Saturday at Manny's.

Either one works for me.bblhd672 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:21 amThe DFW North/Northwest group meets on second Saturday. I certainly see no reason not to have both Rudy's Arlington and Manny's Weatherford breakfast get togethers, but have them on different Saturdays so those who want to go to multiples have 3 choices a month! Then perhaps once a quarter or semi-annual have a breakfast where all the groups meet together.
I think it would be great to grow the forum breakfasts until we have many groups across North Texas.
How about Manny's every second Saturday and keep Rudy's on the third Saturday?

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast
Here's another thought:
Those western members who have decided not to make the drive to Arlington could meet at Manny''s every month since that wouldn't be conflicting with those who would meet at Rudy's.
Your thoughts?

I'm all in for Manny's if everyone else agrees.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 3:16 pm The 9 of us that attended this past Saturday: Excaliber, jusme, C-dub, hackjob, diesel42, SigM4, strogg, bitterclinger, and myself.
Since this has been our highest attendance in quite some time, shall we return to Arlington Rudy's in July, or give Manny's another shot?

If not, I'll see you folks in August.

My pleasure!Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 3:03 pmAnd the chairs were more comfortable than Rudys! Thanks for scouting this out and for coordinating!Excaliber wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:49 pm The meeting at Manny's Cafe was a rousing success, except for the unfortunate absence of one dislocated member who made a last minute decision to attend and tried to come, but hadn't followed the series of posts on change of venue. We missed his participation and hope to see him next time.
As C-dub said, we had nine attendees, the food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We had a very warm welcome from the staff, there was no conflict with seating other diners or rush to finish up, and the location in the stove shop with lots of antiques and cool wood burning stoves, fire pits, windmills, old tools, etc. lent a unique ambience to the gathering. Open carry by most of the members didn't raise a single eyebrow, and there were no grumpy wait staff like we had last time at Cracker Barrel
Everyone agreed that we'll definitely be going back to Manny's for the August meeting on the 17th.
Thanks to everyone who came for making this a rousing success!![]()
And +1 on the chairs.

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast
Here's a copy of the venue change reminder I posted on Thursday:
Manny's Cafe
4019 Fort Worth Hwy
Hudson Oaks, TX 76087
It's a small cafe located in the David's Stove Shop building on the north side of westbound I20 at Mikus Road. There is minimal signage for the cafe, so look for David's Stove Shop which is easy to spot. The cafe entrance faces the road near the west end of the building by the windmill displays. (It can also be reached by going through the main stove shop entrance when that opens at 9 AM.) The cafe opens at 7:00. Staff advised they would be glad to have us and open carry is not an issue with them. It's also a bit closer for the folks coming from the main DFW area.
From I20 west, take Exit 415. It is just past the first traffic light (Mikus Road) on the right.
From I20 east, take Exit 415 and make a left at the light at Mikus Road, go under the highway, and turn left onto the westbound service road. It's the building on the corner of Mikus Rd. and the I20 service road.

The staff member I spoke to said the first time someone came in while OCing they were a little surprised, but they got used to it real quick.Jusme wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 9:38 pmThey said as long as you keep buying coffee, you can talk as long as you like.![]()
Looking forward to meeting a lot of folks I haven't got to meet yet. If they kick us out, we can just comandeer their parking lot, and threaten bad reviews.![]()
I'll bet we will be a novelty, and will have a lot of people curious as to our intentions. It will give us an opportunity to spread the LTC gospel, and show that we are not crazed gun nuts.

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast
I told them we would plan to stay until around 10:00 and they said they were fine with that.
Everyone should plan to be a little early or on time. I suspect they won't let us hold empty seats for very long.

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast
Please let me know during the week if you plan to attend next Saturday's breakfast because the restaurant is small and I'll need to reserve the right number of seats. Likewise, if you say you'll come but change your mind, please let me know that too so we don't reserve seats the owners could sell to others.
Showing consideration this way will give us an ongoing welcome at a very fine place to meet.
