yes, we have had a dead bolt on the garage door since, and it's always locked. We don't use our garage door anymore, our garage has pretty much become my husband's workshop, but when we did, we kept the opener hidden, not on the visor like before.

This exposure is why the wife and I don't keep garage door opener transmitters in our vehicles. We use a code pad mounted on the outside door frame.
