I wonder if was a Derringer-type gun?

There was a recent case in Houston where one discharged after being dropped in a restaurant.

Both my M&P .40 and Glock 26 with a round in the chamber have fallen from the truck seat to the driveway with no discharges and no visible dings for that matter.
A derringer with the hammer down on a live cartridge - yup, that'll fire if it lands hammer down on a hard surface. There have been lots of cases to prove that works.

Even a derringer dropped from one hand to another, even if it were to land on the hammer, doesn't put nearly enough force on the primer to fire it.

I'm not buying the story as told.

A thrift store employees are going through donated clothing when a gun is discovered in a sock and it goes off.

.22

Apparently one shot.

Not the employee who discovered the gun is killed.

Gun fell into his hand.

I always wonder if there is more to the story. For example the other employee discovers the gun points it at the head of the victim and pulls the trigger.

Since we don't know what kind of gun, etc. it is difficult to figure out.

BTW Chicago, so story is impossible as Chicago is gun free.

That story is highly suspect to me. :grumble
