The NY troopers occasionally encountered the same type of issue with some of their new hires. Malone is right up against the Canadian border where there are almost as many bears as people. Coincidentally, the night life is a little different than the urban NY settings most of these downstate boys were used to. The fresh air and good country living never failed to achieve what counseling could not.
