Mine just arrived from Brownell's.
Now I have to get an AR bolt carbonized so I can try it out.
Dang - guess I'll just have to go shooting!

Re: CAT M-4 Tool
Thanks for the report - I just ordered 2 - one for me and one as a gift for my son.ddstuder wrote:Got the tool in the mail yesterday!
Just popped the bolt out of my AR and spent about 3 minutes on it, and removed all of the stubborn carbon!
The inside of the tool is shaped perfectly to accept the bolt and has sharp edges that chip the carbon off like butter!
I took this pic showing the carbon that came off of it. this was after just 300 rounds as it was clean before that.
I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who owns an AR platform weapon.

Re: CAT M-4 Tool
OK, now I've gotta get one.dcphoto wrote:I've also got one. It's cut my bolt/carrier cleaning time by at least 75%. It used to take me 20-30 minutes to get all the carbon off the bolt and carrier. Since I added the CAT to my process it takes 5-7 minutes.

Re: CAT M-4 Tool
Thanks. I'll have to look into getting one. Removing carbon from the bolt without a purpose designed tool is not my idea of fun.RECIT wrote:I have one and it works quite well. I picked one up at a gun show with some other armorer tools and vice blocks for pretty cheap if I remember.

Re: CAT M-4 Tool
That looks really interesting as a skeletal design with many functions.ddstuder wrote:http://catm4.com/index.html
Has anyone tried one of these tools? It looks like just the thing I need to clean the BCG on my AR. The carbon buildup on the bolt can be a bear to scrape off.
This tool cleans the bolt, Firing pin, and the carrier. It also has a 1/4" bit driver cut into it. And yes, it is made in the USA!![]()
I just ordered one from Brownells. I will review it after I use it!
I'll be looking forward to seeing your review.
