Direct eye contact isn't discrete, and lots of folks with anger management or intoxication issues react aggressively to it.

I would agree that it's advisable to keep a general view of the potential threat without direct eye contact until you can get safely away.

I have to agree. You need to check to make sure that there isn't a greater threat developing than what you've already seen.

I also agree that there's nothing to be gained by maintaining eye contact. Use a quick glance to see what you need to, then get your eyes back on the road and your vehicle someplace other than alongside his.
