Re: "Waiting Room"
Called TXDPS today and almost fell out of my chair when they answered on the 3rd ring! A polite lady asked for my name and social, confirmed my PIN and said they DID indeed have my completed packet and had begun processing my application back on May 16th. She said they are waiting on the background checks to come back. I asked and she did confirm that they had hired more folks to process the apps but could not tell me exactly when they would be completing mine as they cannot control how long the background checks take......but I'm happy knowing it's at least in process. Woohhoooo shouldn't be too long now!

Re: "Waiting Room"
Yeah, I later found out that they cannot do a proof of delivery on a P.O. box which is what is on the DPS supplied pre-addressed envelope. SO, the clerk shouldn't have sold me the "certified"! The fact that they don't show any record of it is what has me worried. I pray I get an email back from SImone telling me all is well and that they have the packet and are "processing" it. I also hope my status as a vet helps speed things up!Andrus wrote:I just sent my packet in today. The DPS supplied envelope I had was to a PO box. I sent it registered w/ return receipt....but didn't know it didn't track PO boxes

Re: "Waiting Room"
I am absolutely sure the address was correct as it was the pre-addressed envelope that THEY sent me to mail back everything in. And yes I know all about the "tracking number" as that was the whole reason I sent it certified in the first place! That is the astonishing thing. The UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE cannot tell me if it ever got delivered or signed for and I have a valid "tracking number" on my "official" receipt! They did a "report" and found NOTHING! I mailed it in person at the post office in Fort Worth and paid for an email confirmation of delivery rather than the paper card mail back as I didn't trust them to deliver the card back to me! HAH! A lot of good that did. I should have sent it via FED EX!!!!!ELB wrote:?? I mailed my renewal package on 20 May, via USPS, in the DPS supplied envelope. I requested delivery confirmation, which according to the clerk meant it had to go priority mail, for which I coughed up about $6. I got delivery confirmation on line -- it was delivered the next day, 21 May, at 0749.Fixintu wrote:I think I'm screwed. I didn't pay attention to the address on the DPS supplied envelope, so don't know if it was a P.O. Box or not -- seems like it was a street address tho. Also, when you pay for delivery confirmation, you get a tracking number to use on line at the USPS.com website. They should have given you a receipt with the number on it, plus I think it also appears on the cash register receipt.
Are you sure you really sent it to the right place with delivery confirmation?

Re: "Waiting Room"
I emailed them this morning and am now awaiting an answer.Keith B wrote:I wouldn't let the lack of the update online be an indication of whether they have or have not received your packet due to the long durations that have recently been experienced. I would just try confirming again via email and see if they have it in hand.Fixintu wrote: I paid online 4/02/08 by credit card when I completed the online application portion. I have a valid PIN to log in and check status but nothing online that indicates they have the packet and as I said the USPS cannot tell me if it was delivered!!

Is there a way to track back and see if the DPS has cashed the check or if the Money Order was cashed? If so, that means they have your packet. Time lines have been running long (60-90+ days) so you may still be there, just not updated yet. Many folks have had 45+ days before any activity shows up in the system.Fixintu wrote:I think I'm screwed. They cannot tell me if it was or was not. It has been over 30 days now. I have emailed the CHL office to inquire if my application package has been received. I have already paid all the fees as I initiated the process online but when I log into the status website it merely says "Packet Mailed to Applicant". What else can I do? Has anyone else had this problem of the status not reflecting that they had the package and it just wasn't updated this far out????
