I really doubt you could hurt either one of them unless you took a hammer to it. Everyday carry of either brand would likely take years before there was any serious wear on them.

So far I have managed to break an extractor on the Glock 17 I use for IDPA and wear down a recoil spring assembly. Fifteen bucks and about two minutes of combined labor (if you want to call it that) and they were both replaced.

You have never seen me be gentle with my guns.

I agree with those above that posted about how easy it is to get parts and accessories. It is no secret that I prefer Glock, but to be fair.....I have only shot one XD in the past and it was their sub-compact 9mm...it was very nice.

If finger grooves are a problem......there is no shortage of 2nd generation Glocks out there that do not have them.
