Re: Dog attack and CHL

We had a neighbor at our old house with a dangerous pit bull in their back yard that could easily get over the 6ft cedar privacy fence. This is a planned community type neighborhood with many small children running around. We called the police regularly about the dog but somehow the kids who were bitten invariably by this dog did not report the incidents to the police because of the owner (lady) crying and going on and on about how much they love the dog and it would ruin their lives to lose it blah blah. Well one day (this was long before I had any guns) the dog was doing its best to come over the fence into our yard while the kids were on the trampoline out back, so I brought the kids in and went out and stood guard with a shovel that pinged off the dog's forehead any time I saw the head come over the top of the fence, until the police arrived.

Listen: as everyone here has noted, any dog bigger than a dachshund is potentially a very dangerous animal. I don't think people fully realize just how dangerous the animals we keep as pets can be. If you've ever gotten into it with even a full-grown tom cat that was actually on the offensive and not just trying to escape you were probably be shocked at just how strong and ferocious even a little cat can be. Humans are tame, weak animals. We are easily overpowered by animals that are much smaller than we are. I agree with the idea that any dog that takes an offensive behavior towards me or anyone I am charged to care for in my presence is going to get a hollowpoint cocktail. I'll worry about whether it was legal to shoot it or not after the dog is tango uniform.
