Re: Why no WA reciprocity?

Washington was the main reason I applied for my Utah CFP license, as WA has reciprocity with Utah. I travel to Washington quite a bit and would like to bring my firearm with me. Now that I've gone throught the course, my instructor stated that our government is working closely with Washington and she expects that reciprocity will be granted in the future.

But even if Washington grants Texas reciprocity, I still think there is value in obtaining, and holding a Utah CFP. Right now, Texas DPS has no way to know that you have a CFP from Utah, as they don't associate out of state licenses to your drivers license. Second, aside from Utah's CFP group, Utah doesn't know you got a Utah CFP, as their system is not capable of associating their CFP license with out of state drivers license. Third, for what ever reason, if your Texas CHL expires, get's revoked, suspended, you can still carry as you still have a Utah CFP. So no worries about having to worry if your renewal will get done in time for when your license expires, as you have a backup. Plus, Utah is cheap, $65 for the license, and $10 for renewal fees.
