I would always have cycling problems in all my semi autos. .45acp worked best out of my 9mm, .40S&W and .45acp. I don't bother with them if I go out hunting or backpacking. I bring my snub nose S&W .38 and they fire every time. A buddy has the 45LC and they work even better for large rattlesnakes but the .38 special will kill one as far out as 7 yards with 2 shots. Within 10 feet the rattlers are pretty much dead with one shot to the head but sometimes the body still wiggles but the snake stops moving. Some hunters shoot them whenever they see them but I have only shot 3 and all were in my direct path and I came upon them without notice. On a side note I never heard a rattle before I saw them. That is a myth that they always rattle before they strike.
