Re: Spring Guns and Ammo
Actually I was there the other day and they got rid of the back table area. All bags and weapons were in shooters stall area. So now I have no problem at all. It just seems safer this way.

Re: Spring Guns and Ammo
I am with you on that Russ. That is how I did it when shooting at SGA but just like my previous post reflected many people don't use common sense when at some of these ranges. I was at another range 6 months ago not SGA or Shiloh and there was a ceasefire. The range master gave the order to drop all mags and have all actions open with firearms pointing down range. As I started to back up from my stall I noticed the man next to me still had a mag in his gun pointed down range and the slide in battery. I told the gentlemen next to me that he needed to drop the mag and have his action open in a very polite manner. He looked at me like really? I don't think he even thought about it. I think he thought I was joking.
He didn't move so I went and got the range master and he asked the man why he did not do as told. His response was that the safety was on. The range master shook his head and looked at me. He dropped the mag and cleared the chamber. That’s right the guy had a round locked and loaded pointing down range where people were about to go walking out to. The range master explained the rules to him again and the gentlemen said he was sorry but you would think it was common sense.
Long story short I think moving guns from one place to another at a firing range is asking for trouble with inexperienced and careless shooters. It is just one more thing to confuse all the ADD people. I know 99% of all the shooters at these ranges are careful but there is that 1% that left common sense at home.
I can't count how many times I have seen shooters sweep their body or the body of the person next to them with loaded and unloaded weapons. The perfect place to witness this is Carter’s Country. If you stand back by the rifle racks in the pistol range section when it is really busy on a Saturday you will see someone do this at least once during your time there that day. The really sad thing is that nobody shooting notices it. Only someone behind them who is not shooting notices.

Re: Spring Guns and Ammo
On a side note of range safety I have learned that every shooting range that I have gone to in my area has had accidental gun shot wounds. I actually saw a guy say his shotgun was jammed and then he pointed it in range down the whole row of shooters. Scared me half to death and guess what the gun was not jammed the guy just left the safety on and when he couldn't figure out what was wrong he turned to this right with shotgun in hand pointing at all of us at the range! As far as I know SGA has not had any but they are new. My point is that no matter how safe a gun range is there is bound to eventually be accidents. Be safe and if you feel that the person in the stall next to you is unsafe, MOVE!
I have left a certain range in this area twice and on the second time refused to ever go back. Once was the shotgun incident and the other a guy was noticeably drunk while shooting.
I won't mention this range by name. It is not Shiloh or SGA but another range in the area.

Re: Spring Guns and Ammo
I have been to both and both have pros and cons. SGA you can shoot rifles, its cooler, good lighting and 2 bucks cheaper then Shiloh. SGA is more of a gun shop with a good amount of firearms to choose. These are the pros. Cons for me are that while they do give you a table area to set your bag it is 10 feet or so from where you shoot. I think walking back and forth if you bring several firearms is a little annoying and whenever people start moving guns back and forth at a range there is bound to be accidents.
I guess I just like to keep things simple with the stalls where your guns are next to you and there is no movement of firearms from bench to stall. There is not enough room to set much more then a box of ammo and a pistol in your stall. SGA is by the hour. Shiloh will let you shoot all day if the lane is not needed. Also, the staff at Shiloh is clearly more tactical based if your into that and in my opinion seem more knowledgeable about firearms.
Both are good but if you want to bring your arsenal in on a weekday between 10-4 Shiloh is the range. I put well over a thousand rounds down range one weekday afternoon and I was there for at least 2 1/2 hours and they only charged me for an hour. If I just wanted to pop off 100-200 rounds and had only one firearm with me I would go to SGA.
