Re: Just found out my mother has covid
Looks like they are sending Mark home from the hospital. The Remdesivir did the trick. They are discharging him now. He had made a crack about being immune. They told him not necessarily. They said he will still need to get the vaccine once it is available. Apparently you can contract it more than once.

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
My youngest brother is 55 and not fairing so well. They took him to the hospital Sunday night and found out he had developed pneumonia. Today after he was not improving much they put him on a Remdesivir drip. We are all praying for him. The count for their super spreader event was my Mom, my middle brother, both my youngest brothers daughters, one of his daughters boyfriend and his 22 year old step son. Oh, and his 19 year old step daughter. It kind of ticks me off that those fools all gathered up Thanksgiving week. Good Lord! What were they thinking. All have recovered except for the brother in hospital. This stuff is no joke. It is contagious like nothing I have ever seen. I sure hope they all had fun that week. Thank goodness I did not get involved.

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
We just decided to stop doing any calls that are simply for servicing the heat for at least two weeks to see what happens with this spike. I don't want to catch this virus and I sure don't want to spread it around half of Plano and Frisco so I can check a furnace for proper operation. We are still going to go out when a furnace or heater is not working. We don't want to leave people without heat but after watching most of my family pass it around like an old newspaper, I am genuinely concerned about just how contagious this crap is. Just found out my daughter is O negative so I am hoping she is one of the lucky ones to avoid it.

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
Oh my! I did not realize. My daughter texted it to me earlier today. We are in the middle of doing our heating checks for maintenance customers. I am tempted to suspend doing all but no heating calls until this thing slows down again. I am honestly starting to worry about going into so many homes each day. I feel like I am playing Russian Roulette.Flightmare wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 9:57 pmUnfortunately, it's not just Collin County, it's all of the North Texas region. The county commissioners have no say in the matter. The hospitals in the area hit the occupancy level that triggered the governor's shutdown of bars and elective surgeries, as well as reducing gyms and restaurants to 50% capacity.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 9:48 pmJust found out that she did not do Thanksgiving with them because she was already feeling bad. They all had dinner together on the 21st though and that is when she gave it to them. She got it from a friend who had Covid and and came out too soon after having it. She and my mom had dinner together 6 days before she had dinner with my brothers. Talk about the virus getting around! Just today Collin county is back on a lock down mode. Holy Cow I am tired of all this!03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 6:51 pm I found out yesterday that Both my brothers have it and two nieces. The nieces are under 21 and hardly show symptoms. One brother is fine so far with light symptoms and the other had a few breathing issues they have him on meds for. One brother came down from Ohio and the rest of them all spent Thanksgiving together and all went out to eat together the day before. I had opted out of their super spreader event in Rowlett, THank God, and spent turkey day with my SIL, Daughter and grand daughter here in Plano. I don't know what they were thinking when they did all that together.

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
I just remembered that last week my cousins son out in Kalifornia got it. He is 21 and experiencing no symptoms but has been quarantined. Between relatives and customers who I know have had it, the count has to be north of fifteen now. Of them i only have the one uncle that almost died from it. He is somewhere in his mid to late seventies so falls in the most at risk group. I have not been tested but I have been in no less than 150 homes since May and can't help but wonder if I have been exposed. Maybe I have been lucky. My local Tom Thumb grocery has mostly young "kids" working at it. By kids I mean under 25. They have yet to have any outbreak that I know of. It seems if anybody is going to get it, a person working in a grocery store setting would.Deitz83 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 5:27 pm I hope she gets better soon. My friends BOL passed away Thursday. My wife's cousin quarantined for 14 days and on day 15 he got a blood clot in his brain. Was placed in a comma, had 2 strokes and under went brain surgery to relieve the swelling. He is 34 and in good health. He has been making progress. I know so many people that had it, I loose count. Most just sick, but some sick as a dog for weeks and at least 1 other death. Oh! One elderly club member died of it.

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
I was at a customers house in July who told me his wife got it. They tested him and found he had the antibodies for it. That meant he was exposed and his system just kicked it right off. He said he never had any symptoms. His wife had flu like symptoms for about a week and then recovered just fine. Did you test for the antibodies or does the standard test show them if you have them?J.R.@A&M wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 10:41 amMy wife and two children tested positive (I was told with 100% reliability). I tested negative (was told with 85% reliability) and never had symptoms. We all quarantined at home for two weeks, with me off in the guest room. Two weeks later, their symptoms came and went (mostly mild -- wife was easily winded, and felt like crap for a few days with a fever). My son never showed any symptoms, which is probably how they all caught it (asymptomatic kid-to-kid). I never had symptoms and again tested negative at the end of our family quarantine. I still have no clue why I didn't catch it if it's so contagious.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 6:36 pm She is 77 but in very good health. Very active. She got her test results back yesterday. She thinks she has had it about a week so far. The only symptoms are a headache and tired. She lives in Rowlett which is experiencing a spike at the moment. Doctor told her she will be out of danger zone if no further symptoms show up in the next several days. Quarantined at home.
Anyone on the forum been tested positive yet or had close relatives in texas test positive?

Re: Just found out my mother has covid
One of my uncles out in Georgia got it in June and it almost killed him. Full hospitalization, ventilator... the whole bit. They saved him with the blood transfusion bit and experimental regeneron. No way to know which one saved him. He is clear now but still suffering from some damage to his lungs while he had it. I don't know if it is true, but I have been reading it has slowly been mutating to a less dangerous virus. She started having a migraine a week ago and after a couple days was tired and run down. She was tested Wednesday and got results Friday. She said she doesn't even have the sniffles so her Doctor thinks she is going to be fine. She is very active in her church and spends a lot of time with church friends. I don't know if she got it going to church or what but I can tell you she isn't the type to hide in the basement. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It is a funny feeling when it strikes so close to home.
