That is true in theory but the problem is that some folks will load up a cart, go to the register and unload it all, then look dumb founded when they are not able to buy it. Meanwhile, customers with memberships are standing there getting delayed due to the doofus. Just the same, this whole thread is based on a claim with zero validity. Are we now looking for reasons to get worked up as gun owners? Sams has been checking for memberships at the door for as long as they have been in business. Yes sporadically, but doing it just the same. I don't believe this has anything to do with the shooting down south. The door greeter is full of it. This one is a non issue.crazy2medic wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 11:24 am The funny thing is you can't purchase anything at Sam's without a card! I would think it would be to the stores advantage to allow non club members to walk around and check prices, when you go to checkout you have to swipe your card! I think in the last several years I have been ask to show my card once upon entry, the other times they just say welcome to "Sam's club" if that!

Re: Sam's Club Requiring ID Card At Door Again
In addition, I don't see where we know the reason given that started this thread to be fact. "Some dude" working at entrance said so? What about the 20 plus years before that when they did it to keep a shopper from shopping with no membership?twomillenium wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 12:51 amWho's logic? I scratch my head at the person who is concerned about showing ID at a membership shopping club. I guess the tin foil hat needs to be resized.rotor wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 11:10 pmThe complaint is not about showing the card, it is that corporate instituted that because of the WalMart shooting in El Peso. Scratch your head figuring out what their logic is.1911 Raptor wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 9:41 am Sam’s is a members only club and people are complaining about having to show their membership card?

I dunno. Even armed does not mean much. Didn't the school shooting in Florida have an armed guard on campus who hid?crazy2medic wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 1:26 pmArmed Security? If they're not armed they're just another fish in the barrel!

Re: Sam's Club Requiring ID Card At Door Again
I had the exact same thought when I read the comment about armed guards with sub machine guns. My visual was of a police state with armed militia patrolling the streets. I am certain we don't want that. At the entrance to stores or on the streets of America.Charles L. Cotton wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 3:10 pmThat may or may not actually prevent a mass-shooting, but it certainly would not be commercially feasible. Many customers, including me, would not walk in if they thought that level of security was warranted.rotor wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 7:09 pmActually there is a way, they could hire armed guards with sub machine guns at each door instead of handicapped guys in wheelchairs. Technically that might work, asking me for my ID doesn't work and the poor guy working the door sure couldn't stop anyone. Corporate stupidity as someone mentioned.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 6:06 pm These people are not stupid. Re: Sam's Club Requiring ID Card At Door Again
I have not shopped at Sams for two or three years now but had a membership there for at least 20. The reason they were checking ID at entry back when was to keep a person from shopping and then not being able to purchase due to lack of membership. It had nothing to do with firearms back then and I doubt it does now. "Some dude" working at the store has no idea why the CEO or BOD makes rules. Instead of just admitting they don't know, some folks talk out of a paper sack.

Re: Sam's Club Requiring ID Card At Door Again
That was my point. Asking for ID won't stop anything and the people in charge know it won't stop anything. The ID check is for window dressing so they can appear to be doing something.rotor wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 7:09 pmActually there is a way, they could hire armed guards with sub machine guns at each door instead of handicapped guys in wheelchairs.
