When I start watching those episodes I get addicted and can't stop. Suddenly 3 hours has blown by. Funny I thought this was legal too, after watching so many Alaska State Troopers episodes.

Re: Questionable Search on Live PD.
This is the very reason I always laugh when the seller of a firearm says they want a bill of sale to protect themselves. The seller has zero to worry about, the buyer is the one who should be asking for the bill of sale.bubba84 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 7:47 pmanygunanywhere wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 10:41 amBubba, I stated that I realized that the citizen gave consent. Shouldn’t the normal situation be that there is RAS or PC before a cop wants to search law abiding citizens?
Why did he want to run the weapon? What led him to think it might be stolen? Does the deputy make it a habit of pulling these unnecessary searches on all citizens exercising their 2A rights? The 4A protects against these searches.
My point is what is in large red text. Why did the deputy believe it was necessary to run the weapon to see if it was stolen? He had no PC or RAS.
You dont catch fish if you dont cast the net.
Same reason he runs the LP on the car and the DL of the driver. He doesnt know until he checks. Without pc or ras he has to ask.
Odds of someone with a LTC carrying a stolen pistol are prolly slim to none but if it was bought it a private transfer it very well could be and the current owner never know about it.

Re: Questionable Search on Live PD.
I don't know the answer to your question but I have watched many things cops do on Live PD and wondered what the heck.
