Yep, and I can assure you I said everything I could to try and convince my buddy I planned it that way. Truth be told, these two squirrels were fighting and chasing each other around. The second guy ran beside the first guy just as the pellet went through the first guys body. One of those weird things that can never be planned. The lesson I learned from that lucky shot was to always be aware of what is behind my target. Be it a squirrel, deer or bad guy.

It seems most of us responding on this forum carry with one in the chamber. I am amazed though at the number of people I run into during my daily life who are afraid of having a round in the chamber. I try to explain that it isn't dangerous if using safe gun handling practices, but it can be tough convincing them. I had a guy who use to work for me that would not keep one in the chamber for years. His only response would be that it just made him feel safer. After pounding on him about having time to rack the slide for several years, he finally gave in. But only after he purchased a pistol with a "safety" on it. I drove him nuts carrying my Glock with one in the pipe. He was just convinced the gun could somehow fire by itself. It is similar to the people who won't carry a revolver with a chambered round under the hammer. Much of it is just a matter of gaining knowledge on how the firearm actually functions....IMHO.

You are correct. My amatuer status has now been exposed. Now I must find a way to carry my pressure cooker and my AR.

Some weapons don't like the full mag plus one. Be sure and try it at the range to make sure the weapon feeds properly after firing the first round. This is not a brand specific issue. Things that can affect this are magazine type, age of gun, combination...ect. For example. My PM9 will allow me to get away with this nine times out of ten but that one out of ten will not feed the round properly after firing the first round. I have experienced this with other handguns as well. That one out of ten may be the occasion I am defending my life.

All I am saying is that if you are stuffing that magazine to max capacity along with one in the chamber, test it like that multiple times at the range and don't assume every magazine you put in the same gun will work the same. Even the brand of ammo may have different results. Test the complete package you carry with at the range before putting your life on the line with it. Then repeat the test every time you go to the range.

Since many have posted about having a round chambered, I will say I always carry with a round chambered. Stuffing the magazine to capacity on top of this is what I am talking about.
