I would sure like to come on here and read the guy made good on all this but I am not holding my breath. This has classic scam written all over it. I hate when thieves get away with stuff like this. It could be me, my family or any one of us posting here getting ripped off. Is it against forum policy to speak of how cool it would be if ten or so fellers from the Houston area get together and open up a can of whoop butt? Just kidding.... Not really.
To the OP... Sorry if you got burned and don't feel alone. This stuff happens to people buying on the net all the time. When I was playing drag racer, there were always guys getting scammed buying hot rod parts from net thieves. Good luck to you... Hope it works out.

I concur. But.... I am fairly certain part of being a criminal is being stupid. It is a requirement to get your criminals permit.gigag04 wrote:Scamming gun enthusiasts just seems like living life on the razor sharp edge of brazen stupidity.

I am not familiar with postal money orders. Can the post office tell you if he cashed the money order? If he did and you have proof he claims he didn't , it seems like it would be an open and closed case.

I hate to dog pile on a feller but ...WildBill wrote:What is the saying about something that sounds too good to be true?schufflerbot wrote:man, that has scam written all over it.jtran987 wrote:Sadly it was worth it, I was to get a brand new unfired Springfield M1A loaded with a 22" stainless barrel for 850, dealer cost is roughly 1500-1600.He said it's lost so I would go to the post office and fill out the paperwork for a lost money order. I also wouldn't go through with the transaction unless the gun was worth at least $1500. Anything less of a deal isn't worth the hassle of dealing with someone like that.

Joke or no joke... I think the thread title would have been more appropriate if it was Texasguntrader deal gone Obama. The Annoyed Man wrote:Ooops! Sorry. You never know sometimes, and I guess I just gave proof to the old saw that there's a new sucker born every day.george wrote:It was a joke, TAM.

Re: Texasguntrader deal gone south - opinions welcomed
I have made several transactions on gunbroker, which is a similar service. I only had one occasion to get suspicious and I told the guy the only way I would go through with the deal is if we used an escrow type service. Basically they hold the money until the gun is delivered and then hand it to the seller. This particular seller was listed as having one address and then told me to send payment to a different address. My alarm went off and I backed out. Gunbroker backed me up and suspended the guys account for trying to get money sent to a different address than on file. When selling, I allow folks to pay me by credit card since I have credit card processing for my business anyway and when buying I never buy from a newb.
I figure if a feller has several good feedbacks as a seller or buyer, they are less likely to do me wrong. I always pay by credit card if they give the option. That way I can dispute it if they burn me.
PayPal has some kind of anti gun policy. From what I gather, if you do a gun transaction through them, you have to lie and say it is something else.
Sorry the guy burned you. I hate to say to do something that might lead to trouble but you may have to drive to his address and like aea said... Maybe get law enforcement involved. I always thought combining a firearm with mail fraud could get a person into a serious problem with the law. Maybe not but it sure seems serious to me!
