Oh no!!!! Do you have a link to the story? Do they know any more than they did yesterday? Like for instance what exactly happened to this guy?
63 Y/O and they gave a name. I thought about posting the name but after reading this thread didn't thinkthat was a good idea.....now I have forgotten it!! Getting old is no fun....or maybe just too much fun when I was young  They did say that the police said it was self inflicted but we all new that. Then they interviewed another CHL'er on the news. Not a negative report just tragic. Could very well be one of our own.

Bad deal for sure. Thanks for the update.

Re: Man accidentally kills himself at Red's in Pflugerville

When I read about Range accidents like this it serves to remind me to be watchful of others firearms handling as well as my own while at the range. I have watched many a shooter holding the weapon in a manner that sweeps the folks shooting to the left and right of them. This is probably the infraction I witness the most and it is not always new shooters either. I always step over and politely remind them to keep the gun pointing down range, even while loading a magazine. It amazes me to see folks set the gun on the table pointed directly to the person in the stall beside them. It is an easy rule to forget when standing in a stall with gun fire going off all around you. It makes me wish they had steel walls in between each bay. At least the bullet would bounce back and forth and get the right guy. :grumble

Re: Man accidentally kills himself at Red's in Pflugerville

I was just practicing my Google Foo and searching for updates on this accident. I happened across a link on Google that brought me straight to this thread. It was in the top four or five links on the page. One does not have to be a member here to come across this thread.

:iagree: That is a good point. To be honest, I had not considered that angle. If this happens to be true, TAM's comment may not be funny after all. With that in mind, any post on this thread condemning bad gun handling might be hurtful to the survivors.

Bob Landry wrote:It's always sad when someone dies needlessly. That said, how many times have we been told to clear a firearm before doing ANYTHING to it. I check every one that I take out of my safe, and I'm the one who put it in there. The saying, "You can't fix stupid" still rings true.

:iagree: +1 for the Darwin Awards. I will add that anytime someone dies doing something stupid it is sad, but it does not make it any more or less tragic whether it happens while cleaning a loaded gun, text messaging while driving down the freeway at 75 or having a stiff drink for the road. It is when others are innocently killed while a person is engaging in stupid behavior that I get the long face. Thank god this guys laps in proper gun handling technique did not cost an innocent bystander their life. It could have just as easily been a story of some fellow on the range catching this guys stray bullet. A split second in lapse of judgment can be life altering.

On a serious note, this is a real possibility. It would be beyond ingenious.

OK...that is funny. "rlol"
It is not funny when someone dies---especially from a gunshot wound, and especially in today's political climate.
I don't believe I recall reading where anyone said it was funny that someone died. The comment was funny.
