I know many people who feel like this, and I don't fault them for their humanist viewpoint. Sure, we can say it's only a car and it shouldn't cost someone their life. But, I don't want to live in a society where someone can steal, pillage or inflict their unlawful will upon others without KNOWING there is a chance their illegal, immoral and just plain wrong actions MIGHT cost them their lives.
I wish those people would put a sign or sticker on their car so the criminals know which ones to target. Everybody wins!
This is the one I keep on my car in hopes the bad guys realize if they mess with my beloved truck, there's consequeces :mad5 .

Being a Life member myself I get all tingly in my leg when I see that sticker,(kind of like Chris Mathews does when he sees Obama :smilelol5: ). I even tend to give the person displaying it a bit of instant respect. Unfortunately, I am afraid to display it on my car or windows of my home. My reason??? I don't want some bad guy to see that sticker and figure I might just have guns to steal in my home or even stuck under my car seat.

They left in their own car, not the one they were burglarizing.

Had they attempted to steal one rather than drive their own, I still see no reason it would need to be impounded as evidence for the duration of a trial. It'd be hard to fit in one of those plastic "Exhibit A" bags.

LOL...are you guys reading a different story than me??? I didn't read where they were trying to steal a car either.

Edit...I see now..you were saying IF they were trying to steal a car. I am no longer confused and very happy there is one less BG amongst us. the other two will probably be free to commit more crimes before their dead buddy get's buried.

That does the owner of the car a lot of good.

Now, what would the car insurance company do in this case? Would it pay for the damage while the car is impounded?

If the owner has a car loan, he will have to pay it off.

I don't know what would happen if the car was leased. The owner might have to pay off the lease also.

I don't think the thieves were stealing a car. i think they were stealing stuff out of cars. The car they jumped into was their car.

Do you think they just don't realize how many good guys are armed, or that they just think they will beat the odds?
My son and I were talking about this the other night. We came to the conclusion that it takes a real screwed up person to rob someone in the first place. If they are thinking they aren't going to get caught and go to jail, the threat of death probably never even enters their minds.

On topic...I don't see how this situation parallels the Joe Horn case, other than BG's getting shot while stealing stuff.
