Sounds like Gun Masters in Plano. They use the same method, except they incorporate a grinder to get the job done.heliguy972 wrote:Don't go to bass pro. Had them install ghostring tritium sights on my XD45C and the didn't use a sight pusher, used the "Old" school dowel and hammer. The dowel / hammerslipped and marked the slide forever. They didn't charge me at all but they need a sight pusher or need to get rid of the old school gunsmiths...

Re: Who in DFW will install night sights on an XD?
The two sets of meps I just purchased are all just as bright as my Trijicons. I just ran and checked them when I read TAMS post. I bet TAM just received a defective sight. Sounds like it worked out well though. I would gladly take a set of Trijicons for the same price as a set of Meps.Carrots wrote:TAM, I have found Meps to be brighter than Trijicons and so I think that you just got a bad set. I have also found the Meps to be easier to use for daytime shooting as well. Of course being able to pick up the sights at night is important, but thus far I have found myself shooting a lot more during the day
Anyhow we are all different, so this is just a fyi.

Re: Who in DFW will install night sights on an XD?
I ordered some Meprolite night sights from Kahr for my PM9 and my sons P380 that arrived today. I finally got the sights out of my PM9 after beating them like a red headed step child, but good night nurse they were tight. My new sight tool has not arrived yet but I am impatient. I thought about wacking the new sights until they went on but have changed my mind. I sure hope the sight tool I ordered is built well. The sights on my PM9 were MUCH harder to remove than my Glock sights.
Anyone have any experience with Kahr sights they want to share? This may be a little bit of a hijack but it is about sights so I thought it would be easier than starting a new thread.

Re: Who in DFW will install night sights on an XD?
I just ordered one of these. I change sights enough to make it worth it for me. Might be a good idea for others too.

You find that on the interweb? I have a handgun I wouldn't mind trying that stuff on.Vic303 wrote:Have decided to simply use some green V10 Glow Inc glow paint on the sights. It really does glow for a good 8hrs once exposed to bright light. Should be fine for daytime/nightstand usage. Heck of a lot cheaper too, and no voiding of any warranty...

Re: Who in DFW will install night sights on an XD?
I am more the fix it, move on and just not shop there kind of feller. I should have known I was headed for trouble when I ask him if he had a press for Kimber sights. Google up replacement of Kimber sights and you will see why his answer of I don't think I'll need them should have sent me running out the door. I don't know about the Kimber Dealer title but Kimber themselves will tell you they DON'T have authorized repair dealers. They want you to send the gun to them. The sight press for a Kimber is VERY expensive as it takes a lot of pressure to press in Kimber sights. He said he just tapped them in...LOL...he left off the part about "after he grind-ed some material off the sights and dove tail".AEA wrote:That's weird! Gunmaster is a Kimber Master Dealer.03Lightningrocks wrote:Careful about this guy. He did a butcher job on the sights for my Kimber. Instead of pressing them in the way he was suppose to do, he decided the Kimber rep didn't know what they were talking about and took a grinder of some kind to the sights Kimber sent me and the slot they are suppose to slide into on my slide. Result...sights fell off again and the dove tail for the sights is obviously ground out. I won't be giving them a second chance at hacking away on my guns.AEA wrote:Gunmaster in Plano does sights while peeps wait......not sure about XD's though, give them a call!
They installed a set of night sights on a Colt Officers ACP for me once before. They cut the dove tail for the new front sight and all. Really good work. It was not a "while I waited job" though and after it was done I tested it at the Bullet trap and found it to be off a bit. Drove back to Gunmaster and told them and they made the required adjustment while I waited. I went back to the Bullet Trap and it was perfect.
No, I am not standing up for them or do I have anything to do with them, but I can't imagine anything happening like this on a Kimber. I am also not saying you are less than truthful, I am only saying that if this did occur, you should contact Kimber directly and complain and provide proof of what happened and you might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
Anyway....I won't be taking anything back to him. I used red lock tight on the sight and so far it is holding. I dread when it comes off again because that means Kimber is going to see it and they may give me crap over the butcher work done on the dove tail. Again...I Repeat...Gun Master is NOT an authorized gunsmith for Kimber. Selling them and working on them are two very different issues. Call Kimber if you don't believe me...their policy is to send the gun to them for repairs.
I found this on the Kimber websight. It explains Kimber repair policy. I also looked up that "master dealer" title. Seems all dealers who sell Kimber are "master dealers"...LOL.
What is Kimber's Warranty Information?
Kimber firearms and accessories have a limited one year parts and labor warranty. Should you experience a problem within one year of purchasing a new Kimber product that cannot be resolved by speaking with the Kimber factory (Call (914) 964-0742 and ask for Warranty Service. There is not a toll free number for this purpose.) it will be necessary to return the item to the factory for evaluation.
Kimber does not authorize any dealer or gunsmith to attempt repair or adjustments to Kimber products, and non-factory adjustments or modifications will void the warranty.AEA wrote:I am only saying that if this did occur, you should contact Kimber directly and complain and provide proof of what happened and you might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
I am not sure I would find my warranty being voided pleasant. Gun Masters should never have taken a grinder to my pistol without asking me first. I would have immediately known he was clueless and said no thanks.
Shipping cost to return an item for service is the responsibility of the owner. Kimber will pay return shipping cost.
