Hopefully the few of you left over from March are at the end of your ride. Good luck to you.

I can't remember the name of the show or movie I saw that on, but there was a guy that would go into "racially diverse" hoods doing crazy stuff like that. He took his KKK outfit to a dry cleaners owned by a black guy. I kept waiting for him to get killed. It may have even been a series of internet videos this nut job did. He went to a day labor sight and picked up a bunch of illegals. He then drove them to a random location and dropped them off. They would chase him down as he drove off leaving them miles from where they started. I have to find those videos. It was some funny stuff.

KaiserB wrote:From my own experience and from viewing the processing time of others I think the only two dates you could measure between are "Packet Received in Austin" to "Plastic Issued" By my unofficial count it looks like the system is running 75-120 days for processing of applications, depending on the month send in (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr). It would be interesting to see a breakdown of time spend for "Packet Mailed to Applicant (PMA)" and "Processing Application. (PrA)" Measuring these two would probably indicate the following:03Lightningrocks wrote:I believe the online status page means absolutely nothing. Some people would get thiers within a month of the "processing application" status, other would see 3 months, other would take 3 months before they even get their pin and entered in the system, and other get their plastics in 60 days...
just total inconsistency and chaos.
1/3: 60 days PMA, with 40 days PrA
1/3: 90 days PMA, with 10 days PrA
1/3: 40 days PMA, with 60 days PrA
Additionally the PIN received date has quite a range, as online applicants receive a pin back with the "Authorization Letter;" while those who use paper applications appear to get a PIN once processing begins.
I believe the online status page means absolutely nothing. It gives folks something to divert them from calling in. I was told at one point that they can work an application without having the data entered for your pin. I believe this is one of the reasons for the confusion about processing times. My page said "processing application" for two to three days. It then switched to certificate active. It still doesn't have that written right. My license is on the way to my house. My pin was issued last Tuesday. Thursday, they mailed my plastic to me. This tells me that they are working applications, regardless of weather a pin is issued or not. Getting all worked up and excited because you change to "processing application" is about like getting excited over Christmas because Santa Clause is coming.Jesse1911 wrote:Just when I thought I figured out what the order and processing times are...They are just all over the place. I bet they have you finished up within a week or so. Goodluck.KaiserB wrote:I have gotten to the point of 90% done .... 90% to go.
My status changed today (6/27/08) to "Processing Application" after 95 days of "Packet Mailed to Applicant" status.
Congrats.E10 wrote:Some of the sweetest words you'll ever read on a government entity's web site:

Took 'em only 109 days. When I visit Austin next month, I don't have to go to the DPS office and get ignorant. Now we'll see how fast the mailman is.
Y'all keep your chins up. Wally World, here I come!
Surely somebody is working her files while she is on vacation. Holy Smoley....that would be nuts.longhorn_92 wrote:kd5zex wrote:I sent an email to my representative yesterday and I received a response this morning. The response is pretty close to what we have all been hearing; increase in applications, 15-30 days behind, temporary workers have been installed. It did say if I would like Rep. Kuempel to look into the status of my application to give him a call. I am going to call DPS today after lunch and see what they have to say.
ETA:Update
I held for about 8 minutes and was greeted by Lauren who transferred me to the technician who was working on my application (didn't catch the name). Got the voice mail, which stated she would be out of the office from May 12th to June 16th. Left a message. We'll see what happens.
What? No wonder your plastic is so slow to come - she was taking a long vacation?! I am sure that no one bothered to work her files either...
Gotta love the DPS...
Yes it did. I wasn't sure at first because it was worded weird. I called and they said they mailed it out today. I guess the temps don't always do data entry properly. They have my wording like I applied for an instructors permit. Tell me it wouldn't be funny for me to receive an instructors permit instead of a CHL.kd5zex wrote:Congrats! Did your status on the site change yet?03Lightningrocks wrote:As of today...License Is on the way. They said it would be 7-10 days to arrive but sometimes the mail gets here sooner. The goodness...that was quite the experience.
Your on the same time period as me. I just saw my first sign of activity last week. Yours should be seeing some activity pretty soon. I don't recall seeing the "partially entered" response before. I wonder what that means?AggieBonz02 wrote:Received today (June 24th) from CHL Department in response to my June 12th request for status:
