Commander Cody wrote:I see a lot of strange waiting time. My son and I went to school Jan 6. I mailed my application to the DPS Jan 10. I mailed my sons application Jan 12. Both with return receipts. Both receipts returned within a few days of mailing. I had speed bump and had to send more information for my application. That had to take an extra week. But still I have plastic in hand and my son still with no PIN#. He called and e-mailed on several occasions and they tell him it is being processed and they will send him his PIN# after the initial filing. What’s up with that?
Yeah, that seems pretty strange. I can see the various reports from state and federal agencies coming back in unpredictable times, but the basic processing seems like it should be somewhat consistent. I wonder if they outsource some some of the work.

Ah well, I don't envy them their jobs.

Kalrog wrote:Yeah, I still got you beat. But call and speak to someone again today. That has been known to help.

I was essentially 120 days and everything was right the first time on my app.
Thanks Kalrog, glad to know I am not the longest sitting here. Hope they get it going soon. I will call them again next week.

Side note, the FBI sure is quicker to get back when I buy a new gun... both times lately, my wait has been under 5 minutes.

this chair is starting to get uncomfortable....

Here is my timeline:

28 Oct 2007 - took the CHL class
2 Nov 2007 - mailed application
26 Nov 2007 - received PIN, checked online status = "Processing Application"
3 Dec 2007 - received letter, more info needed
7 Dec 2007 - i provided the the info they requested, online status = "Processing Application"

As of today, 13 March 2008, status is still "Processing Application".

I've both called (about a month ago) and emailed (recently), and verified that they are not waiting on anything from me. I was told that they are "just waiting on the FBI check". My record is very clean, I cannot imagine that the FBI would have anything at all to report about me. I did have a secret clearance way back about 20 years ago, but never had any problems with it.

If I am counting correctly, starting the clock on 7 Dec, that's 14 calendar weeks, which is 98 calendar days and is approximately 65 business days depending on how many holidays they get off. Starting from when I think they actually received the packet, that's 17 weeks, 119 calendar days, and about 80 business days.

Does this sound like I should be worried? Anyone else out there waiting longer than me?
:headscratch
