I know how long you've wanted and then waited on this pistol. I certainly hope it all works out for you and soon. ITMT, please stick with your Glocks for carry purposes.gigag04 wrote:It's not new. All 3" 1911s have issues running long term without TLC. The timing has to be ridiculously perfect to work right. Since the round count on this gun was unknown when I got it, I'm having to work on it to get it where I want it....AND...it's looking more and more like I may be the issue. Hundreds of hours of shooting glocks in schools might be catching up with me.Oldgringo wrote:Folk, I'm sorry but IMO, a pistol costing as much as any Kimber costs shouldn't be having the problems y'all refer to in this thread. Yes, I do own a Kimber but it sure ain't my CCW.

Re: Sent off the Kimber
Do you reckon that some of Kimber's advertising money could be better spent on QC and Customer Service? Just wonderin....VMaxer wrote:Wow, just being an admirer of 1911's (and not owning one) I had always kept my eye out for the Kimber that spoke to me from the gun case. After reading this thread, I'll certainly reconsider. I had no idea of their service / support rep that some are reporting. Certainly eye opening.
In any event, I hope gigag04's pistol works for him when he dors get it back.

Re: Sent off the Kimber
I have a Kimber Custom Target II that I got in a trade and it seems to be okay.
Not in 3,000 years would I pay $1,000 for a pistol whose documentation says to the effect, '...shoot it for a 1,000 rounds and see if it still works...' 'If it doesn't work, send it back to YONKERS, NY and we'll fix it ...someday'. Sheez!
Good luck with yours
