Well, maybe it wasn't so much a sheltered life as knowing what was expected of me and learning (maturity) when to keep my mouth shut.marksiwel wrote:
If its such a sheltered life, why are you worried about the cops coming for you?

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed
Well, live and learn...I reckon? Now then, y'all are tellin' me that after the prescribed amount of time has lapsed, the non-guilty still has to pay to have the record expunged? This may be correct but it sure don't sound right. I sure have led a sheltered life.jimlongley wrote:"We'll get back to you just as soon as we have ALL of the evidence gathered."sjfcontrol wrote:What happened to the "speedy" part. Seems if they aren't willing to prosecute, it should be expunged. (Just sayin'...)

I did not know that, thanks.03Lightningrocks wrote:The record of arrest. Even if the DA chooses not to prosecute, the record of your arrest will remain. The PD returned my gun soon after the charges were dropped.
IANAL, but that somehow reeks (smells to the high heavens) of Double Jeopardy. If the charge was dropped, ain't it dropped? I spent a little time in a "pokey" in the turbulent civil rights era of the early 60's - with no charges filed. Are you tellin' me that I should fear the knock on the door in the middle of the night? Horrors!

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed
Okay, we've ruled out Podunk and we've ruled out DFW. Neither Austin, El Paso or Houston are claiming credit, which bridge did this travesty occur under or upon? How about an anonymous tip?

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed
Seriously, even though the sign is a non-compliant 30.06 sign, it is a posted sign, it is there in plain view and it is conveying somebody's intent/statement that handguns are not welcome. Does the sign apply to everybody or just unlicensed folk, do you cross the threshold with your CHL and your CCW or not? It's gut check time.ClarkLZeuss wrote:I'm right there with you. This definitely makes me glad I swapped my Kahr P9 with my Taurus 24/7 as my carry weapon. That Kahr is a beauty, I almost forget it's there, and feels like a toy compared to the Taurus. But still, this story definitely gets me second guessing myself. For example, twice in the last week I have seen Gunbusters signs at medical buildings (one very old, one very new) which give the usual non-30.06 bull, but followed by "Violators will be subject to arrest." Sure does make me think twice about them places, seeing as the owners / security guards are broadcasting their intent to call the cops first and ask questions later. Especially if the cops that show up are the sort that handog faced.03Lightningrocks wrote:I don't mind saying that this situation is bugging me out just a little. Maybe I would better describe it by saying my sense of security about carrying without LEO harassment has been reduced.
Uh Oh, this tread is going full circle back to the sign issue. I'm sorry.

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed
In Podunk, we don't have these sort of problems. Everybody knows everybody has a gun of some sort and besides that, who wants to shoot their third cousin, twice removed on their mother's side?

Re: Cuffed and Stuffed
Yes we do. They's shiny black and they have this wheel on 'em with numbers in it. Evertime we see a suspicious person, we use 'em to call Andy. He's our sheriff and a cousin of either me or somebody. We don't see many suspicious folk that we're not related to...you know what I mean? They's a bunch of new school teachers we're kinda' watchin'. They's talkin' about apes and things and a lot of other thangs that ain't in the Bible and they have a whole mouth full of teeth. Kinda' sceery when you see 'em.03Lightningrocks wrote:No offense meant Mr. Ole Gringo.... it's just that plumbing and electricity being fairly new to podunkville, I thought maybe word had not gotten to Barney Fife about CHL's yet. You folks have phones out there?

A podunk jurisdiction lacks the sophistication and learned consideration, understanding and compasion of perhaps a Houston, Dallas Metroplex or even an Austin?03Lightning wrote:
