Re: XD .45 Service w/thumb safety

Thanks y'all, :tiphat:

A couple of small patches of duct tape on the clips closed the gap in the mag well and silenced the rattle - no big deal. I really like the gun; especially, the thumb safety. You know what else? It shoots to point of aim - right out of the box. That's more than I can say for me. :fire

I have an XD 45 Service model (minus the thumb safety) that I am very pleased with and carry as my primary concealed weapon. Sorry to hear that you're not experiencing the same level of satisfaction...
Actually, I really do like it; especially, the thumb safety part of it. Mrs. Oldgringo said it stuck out like a "sore thumb" under a large untucked tee shirt. You reckon that's because she knew where to look for you know what? :headscratch

Re: XD .45 Service w/thumb safety

You can fix just about anything with duct tape. :woohoo Yes I did.

10mmillie wrote:the rattle may be something with polymer framed guns. I had a Glock 22 do what you're describing although it didn't affect the functioning it was annoying to me. Other Glock, XDs and HKs didn't rattle so I just wrote it off to something to watch for the next time I'm looking to buy. So how do you like the thumb safety?
I'm much more comfortable with the thumb safety; in fact, I'll carry with one in the chamber in the XD .45. I wish my XD 9 SC had a thumb safety. I'll also figure a way to stifle the rattle. :tiphat:

Re: XD .45 Service w/thumb safety

I've field stripped it again and put it back together and the mags are still loose in the well. I called Springfield Customer Service and was told that the looseness is normal and should be expected in XD's. I asked the nice lady how I should go about loosening up my XD 9 SC because it didn't rattle. :smilelol5: She said she'd send me another magazine.

There's bound to be some sort of tape or filler material that could be applied to the base of the magazine to tighten it up. I wonder what it is?

Re: XD .45 Service w/thumb safety

Thanks. I field stripped it and wiped it down before shooting it. I ran a 100 (+/-) various rounds through it yesterday without any malfunction that I couldn't attribute to a trashy reload. I'll take her down again and see what I see. ITMT, we'll wait to see what Springfield has to say about it. :fire

XD .45 Service w/thumb safety

:tiphat: WE got back in town yesterday and I picked up my brand new XD above. It required more muscles than I have to rack the slide. I went out to loosen it up today and notice that the magazineS rattle around loose in the grip. It doesn't matter which magazine or how many rounds are in the mag/S - the mags still rattle around loose. What is up with this - anybody know? :headscratch I really like this pistol with the thumb safety but it will be hard to get the drop on a BG if he/she can hear me coming - you reckon?

BTW, my XD 9 SC is 'tight as a tick' with its magazines. :fire

Thanks,

:txflag:
