Re: Effective September 1

The new law does not remove the requirement to display. It simply removes associated penalties and suspensions for the failure to display.

Effective September 1

This has probably already been discussed, but as a reminder, it is effective September 1, 2009: Concealed handgun: HB 2730 removes DPS authority to suspend a concealed handgun license (CHL) for the holder’s failure to display the CHL to a peace officer on demand. It removes associated penalties and ...

Re: ammo on sale

Just left Academy at Hwy 26 and 121. Lots of 9 mm and .45 ACP on the shelves. It was all Monarch ammo. The clerk said it was made in Serbia. Is Monarch ammo any good? I didn't buy any of it but prices were good.

Re: ammo on sale

Just got back from Ft. Worth Cabella's (Thur. afternoon). The shelves were well stocked with all kinds of handgun ammo....everything from .32 Auto to .454 Casull, with the exception of .45 LC. I had special ordered 5 boxes of .45 LC just a few days ago and it came in already so I picked it up. The s...

Re: ammo on sale

Cabella's in Ft. Worth has a good supply of handgun ammo in stock. I have bought .38 Special and .45 ACP both in the past week. I bought MagSafe but they have other brands as well. As of 3 days ago, they also had plenty of .380 on the shelves. Also lots of .40 S&W.

Carrying In Other States

If you are stopped for a traffic violation in Texas, and asked for identification, you are required by Texas law to show your CHL along with your driver's license. How about if you are travelling through other states, such as New Mexico or Arizona (which have reciprocity agreements with Texas) or Ca...

Re: Employee shoots shoplifter - facing aggravated assault?

Thanks Jim. If you get any updates please let us know. I think a lot of guys are unaware that it is illegal to shoot a fleeing robber during the daytime. I am wondering how the Grand Jury will treat this. They will probably have to go by "the letter of the law" and prosecute. Then it will ...

Re: Employee shoots shoplifter - facing aggravated assault?

So, what was the outcome in this case? Have they decided to prosecute/not prosecute the shooter?

Re: Bought a Kimber Today...

I the slide locked open without feeding a round before the magazine was empty. That was using the stock 7 round magazine that came with the pistol. I I have seen this complaint on the other Kimber forums. If you call Customer Service, I think they will send you a new "improved" slide stop...

T J's Custom Gunworks Culver City, CA (310) 558-4445 It would be a simple matter to call and inquire whether he is the maker and if something is offered for Kimber. I've talked to T.J. and he is the maker of the shims you see on Brownells. He has been making and selling them through Brownells for y...
