Re: Volunteer School Defense Forces?
I wouldnt say "it'll never happen", especially since its already happening in some places. I dont get the concern, and never have. People are allowed to carry a gun in the mall. They're allowed to carry a gun in a restaurant. What makes a school any different? If it were me I'd take each a...

Re: CHL renewal class recommendations north houston
Just wanted to close the loop on this...I ended up taking my renewal at Thunder Gun Range. They were very nice, on the phone and throughout. That said, I was pretty disappointed in the class itself. All of the classroom section was composed of listening to a recorded voice reading the powerpoint sli...

Re: effect of heat on non-firearm safe contents
Well, a closet was my original idea, but the 23 3/8 doors on all of them made me think only little safes would make it. The wife doesnt want a safe in the middle of a room so... Today I spoke with a safe vendor that says the dimensions given are almost always total exterior, counting the handle etc....

effect of heat on non-firearm safe contents
The wife and I are debating where to put a safe. Obviously in the house is preferred, but this presents a lot of issues since there really is no good place inside the house. I proposed we put it in the garage with a dehumidifier. She doesnt want to do this because she's afraid the heat in the garage...

renewal timing
I'm coming up on my first renewal and have a question. When the permit is renewed, is the new duration five years from the previous expiration or five years from the point where renewal was approved? If the later there'd be an incentive to wait until the last moment to renew...it doesnt make sense t...

Re: Looking for a mossberg 930 in north houston
Well finally found the one I was looking for (28" barrel, synthetic) at Gander Mountaing and got a couple of chances to take it out. Man, for $450 this thing rocks! I've only got about 200 shells through it but it cycled every shot. It shoots much softer than the pump guns I'm used to. Plus it ...

Re: Looking for a mossberg 930 in north houston
Interesting link on the 3gun mods. And thanks for the tip on the used one, but I'm looking for a hunting model. Listen to this...I found one at Tomball Pawn, brand new but it has a series of scratches on the receiver and a long deep scratch on the stock near the recoil pad. I asked if they'd take so...

Looking for a mossberg 930 in north houston
I've settled on this shotgun on paper, and while I'm ok with having to order it I'd really like to get my hands on one before I do. I've called Shooters Station, Gun Emporium, and Academy in Conroe and Academy in Spring/Woodlands. Any ideas?

Re: priorities
I'm all for an open economy and the idea that eventually the businesses that do things right will succeed and those that dont wont...so on the surface that would mean all businesses should be allowed to make up their own minds about carrying. People that dont like that wont work there. Eventually th...

Re: priorities
Here's the thing... if a person is hurt while within a company's property, that company is liable. For example, I trip while walking down the stairs and break my ankle. The company is liable for my injuries. If someone walks up behind me and pushes me down the stairs, the company is also liable for ...

What is more important, a person's right to defend themselves from bodily harm, or a company's private property rights? Having security that attempts to keep folks without a badge out is not enough. IF they can guarantee no firearms such as in an airport that is one thing. Otherwise, I believe we sh...

Trying IWB carry
I've been carrying and mostly lurking here for a long time. I recently decided to change my carry mode, so I thought I'd share. Up until now I've been carrying an S&W 642 inside my front pocket. A while ago I picked up a Dan Wesson CBOB, wanting to increase my carry firepower. I decided on the 1...
