Yeah, but he was in a different business across the parking lot, not in the IHOP itself. Not sure what the distance was but I would assume it would be 20-30+ yards. I could engage a target with my pistol at 50 yards given time to completely sight in and breathe if the target is stationary in a controlled range environment, and might actually hit it 2 out of 3 times. In a firefight against a rifle at 20-30+ yards, I'm ducking behind cover. No way I'm doing a spray-and-pray in a public parking lot.Beiruty wrote:Someone was armed but did not act:

Not sure if this went to motive, but of the three dead, two were National Guard soldiers in uniform.

Yet more reason you should carry 24/7. I wonder how many people in this IHOP had a CHL but were not carrying, thinking "I'm only going to IHOP for a bite. Nothing ever happens there. I'll leave my gun home."
Considering there was apparently a CareFlight helicopter there, I would imagine at least one person was seriously injured. My prayers are with all the victims.
