There is a faint green ring around the strike plate on some rounds but not others. I assumed it was paint(the box is green), but maybe it's corrosion? Do bullets age? Thanks for the help.
This happened to a buddy of mine at the range last week. He was trying to fire .40 cal ammo in his .45 cal pistol (SA XD45). He just bought the gun from his son and for some reason thought it was an XD40 instead of an XD45. The pin would strike the primer but wouldn't discharge, which would leave a dent where the firing pin hit.
Which worked for me as I got a free box of ammo to shoot up.
