From a description I read on Houston Comical, it sounds as if perp came up and asked question to distract victim and then produced weapon and shot him without any warning... tough one to avoid unless you DON'T let your guard down a mm and maintain distance/cover possiblilty.

There are several tactics that give you a chance against gun in face situation based upon total situation like 1 or more perps etc.

In basic "He Homey" Collateral situation, what was depicted in movie is probably best, 1. try and blade weapon away from BG, 2. distract BG mentally or physically (blubbering and pleading works good, saying "Here Take my wallet" while accessing weapon at 4 oclock might work, tossing/dropping wallet or money roll to ground) 3. if close enough affect BGs weapon arm (bat away, grab and push or lift, anything that moves muzzle off you) while 4. Draw and fire from retention (arm locked to side or "from the hip") into center of mass
