I think the Peterson case will be lost eventually. The federal judge was correct, law enforcement officers have no duty to protect any individual. That's long-standing SCOTUS case law. It's also correct. If the Court were to have held differently, it wouldn't be long before every city and county would be in bankruptcy court.

Absolutely! I'm going to promote another change to the Private Security Act that would exempt volunteer security personnel serving public and private schools. There is a multitude of military veterans and retired police officers that would be happy to serve. I'm not saying that the exemption would apply only to those groups of people; they are just examples of people who would be happy to help protect our kids.

I'm confused about this class. I looked at the class listing and it states that it involves drawing from a holster, using a concealment garment, shooting from cover, and a 50 rd. shooting under duress segment. None of these are in the official DPS SSC course and the Shooting Under Duress segment is 120 rds, not 50. DPS expressly prohibits deviating from the specified proficiency drills as noted in the following statement, "The course of fire must be current, as provided by the Department of Public Safety. No alteration of the course of fire is allowed."

Did the course you attended follow the format set out in Karl's current course description?
