A non-vote for Cornyn is in essence a vote for Alameel.
That dog won't hunt anymore. It's a scare tactic being used along the same lines as calling someone a racist for being anti Obama.
Don't play the race card again. As for your hunting dog analogy, the guy with the most votes wins so maybe you'll reconsider not voting for Cornyn. Plan A is for a candidate to get you to vote for him. Failing that, Plan B is to get you not to vote for his opponent.

In another post you say guns and saving babies aren't enough for you because you want fiscal responsibility also. Well you aren't going to get it with Alameel and he'll also take your guns and kill babies in the process of spending your money.

Chas.
I didn't play a race card. I made a referance to a scare tactic that is often used on people who didn't vote for Obama. I was comparing scare tactics. How you came up with me playing a race card is beyond me.

I guess no one is allowed a dissenting opinion on a candidate around here anymore. I guess we have forgotten how to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions because of what we might get. Maybe if our elected officials were scared of the voters and what they might do things would change.

I have a right to my opinion on Cornyn just like ever other member on this board.

I still don't understand how my statement was deemed throwing a race card when that was not my intention at all.
You know quite well how and why you threw down the race card.

Nevertheless, back to the issue. Yes, you have every right to both an opinion and to refrain from voting for Cornyn. That's not the point. The point made by Keith was that by not voting for Alameel, for whatever reasons you deem appropriate, you are helping to put Alameel in the United States Senate. Rather than acknowledge that fact, you chose to deny it and analogize Keith's statement to opposition to Obama. The irony is that Alameel is far worse on the issues you (and I for that matter) hold dear.

Excellent question. Here's a follow-up question. If anyone answers "yes" to the initial question, is it based upon a political track record, or merely what they have said to get vote.

I forsee the Cornyn campaign having a few sleepless nights...

I voted against Cornyn and he will have to win without my vote.
Cornyn will win, but I'm curious if you would prefer Alameel as a Senator.

Cornyn will beat Alameel worse than Johnson beat Goldwater in 1964.

Who is in Dist. 1 and Dist 4. What is there standing on gun issues?
District 1: Gary VanDeaver A-rated by NRA/TSRA Questionnaire
District 2: Stuart Spitzer A-rated by NRA/TSRA Questionnaire

We should be fine.

He talks a good game. Time will tell if he really means it and saw the error of his ways.
He's done more than talk a good game. He's voted with us on all issues.

Lon Burnam lost!!! :thewave His opponent is an unknown and not likely to be good on our issue, but at least they will not have the seniority of Burnam.

Do you have any idea if that 'mistake' was the reason for the question about making office holders and their staff liable for laws like us peons?
I don't have any information on the party platform questions, but I wouldn't be surprised. It could be targeted more to the U.S. Congress than Texas because the feds exempt themselves from many of the more onerous laws to which they subject us mere mortals. Either way, it sends a great message!

mojo84 wrote:What, if anything, does the Patterson vot tell us about support for gun issues? I thought he would have had better support.
There's no way to tell, but I suspect that Jerry Patterson received a huge percentage of the knowledgable gun-owner vote. By that I mean people that know how much Patterson meant to the CHL effort. Jerry's problem is that his involvement is not as well known statewide, even with gun owners who either don't have a CHL or don't know what he did in 1995 and 1997. Dewhurst and Patrick have much more money to get their names and faces in the media.

I hate to see Jerry out of the runoffs; he's a great guy and a true Second Amendment advocate.

Dan Patrick is very pro-gun and he will be very good on our issue. He earned well-deserved criticism for his part in amending HB508 with elitist provisions that ultimately killed the bill in the House. He understands the extent of this political "mistake" and I would be surprised if he repeats it. I also think he may, I saw MAY, be someone to have an indirect impact on Speaker Straus in that he would be in a position to kill House bills.
