If I drop a weapon for example on a Shooting Line, I would expect to be asked to leave.

I have concerns for my personal safety when I am around people with poor weapons handling skills, that in addition to the Trooper disarming my friend for just a minor speeding violation in which the Trooper was treated with the up most respect and courtesy.

Perhaps I am in the minority.
I agree about being around people with poor gun-handling skills, but I guess our difference of opinion is whether dropping a gun equates to poor gun handling skills. Obviously, the number of times it happened would be a major factor. In 58 years of handling firearms, I have dropped a handgun twice that I can recall and I still consider myself pretty good with a gun.

After an incident in which a fumble fingers DPS Trooper took my friends Lawfully concealed Hand Gun back to the Patrol Car and unloaded it and dropped the weapon on the concrete and marked it up. I personally would rather that Johnny Law not know I had a concealed Handgun Permit.

I understand the need under some circumstances for a LEO to remove your weapon from you, but not for going 6 miles over the Speed Limit and being polite and truthfull when pulled over.

If I held a permit from Virginia would Trooper Fumble Fingers know that I had a CHL ?

Until this particular incident - I really didn't have a problem with LEOs knowing I had a CHL - afterwards I certainly do - DPS Troopers ain't what they used to be, and Barney Fife's have always been with us, sadly.
Wow, that's a pretty tough standard. Haven't you dropped things? In my view, DPS is still the premier law enforcement agency in Texas and perhaps the country. A single incident (an accident at that) hardly justifies indicting the entire agency, or even that Trooper for that matter.
