Chas.
Return to “TexasCHLforum Day at PSC?”
You bet; I'll keep everyone informed as we get closer.HOSSISFREE wrote:I've been in the forum for a short while now, and am finally reading this thread. I am definitely IN! Although September is a long time away. Mr. Cotton, would there be a notification/reminder to the forum in late August? I have a hard time planning that far ahead. It would be very much appreciated. This sounds like something I wouldn't want to miss.
Hoss is FREE!

Is there any way we could have a low-light shoot at the end of this event? I am not suggesting a match necessarily, and it does not have to be at absolute darkness either, though the sun would have to be below the level of the berms, at minimum. I am thinking of a safe, controlled opportunity to test carry ammunition for muzzle flash, try shooting live-fire with flashlights, etc. Have people wear glow-in-the-dark capsules on their shirts, front and back, and lay glow sticks on the ground to demarcate a firing line. (I would be willing to buy these materials, if necessary.) IDPA rules apply: no loaded guns unless on the firing line, ammunition and firearms handled only at separate stations, no unsportsmanly conduct . . .
Would it be possible or practical to obtain a variance(s) from any pertinent local ordinances so this could be done?
Night shoot or not, if I am working in Texas when this is going down, I definitely plan to attend. I will know for sure by late summer.
It's at the PSC Shooting Club range in Friendswood, Texas, about 30 miles south of downtown Houston. Here is a link for more information about the club: http://www.cottonfamily.com/psc-idpaprogun47 wrote:where is this place, I'd be ready to go. I would really like to meet some forum members. I'll also be glad to help in anyway possible, just let me know what, when, and how
Nope, no charge. However, one Baptist to another, you've given me an idea preacher. Last year we held a joint IDPA/IPSC benefit match for a 2 year old little girl that has severe brain damage. Her father used to shoot with us until his little girl was catastrophically brain injured during a relatively minor surgery and now spends most of his non-work time with her.longtooth wrote:When you say no charge, there has to be some range fee & for the meal.
The original plan for last year had to be changed, because the date was uncertain for too long. The plan for this year is to use all 8 pistol bays, including one that is set up with a plate rack. We'll set up one bay with two Texas Stars for one-on-one friendly competition; 2 bays for teaching/coaching anyone who wants some help with their shooting, and the remaining bays set up with IDPA style scenarios. There won't be an actual match, just informal shooting. The instruction/coaching will be for everything from basic shooting skills to more advanced tactics.quidni wrote:Details? what all's involved in a TexasCHLforum Day? (I know, lots of range time) but what kind of shooting, matches, etc? Also, what kind of fees are involved?
