That portion of the state is now unpopulated and Governor Abbott has a task force working on how the land might be reclaimed and made liveable again.

Here, someone fires a .45 ACP at a typical urban indoor shooting range:
In THIS picture, a .45 ACP bullet is shown impacting the berm at a typical outdoor shooting range:
And in this image, we can see what a typical shooting range looks like after everyone has put their 1911s back in their range bags:

Re: Just poking fun at you 1911 guys
And as you well know, this is why I stopped carrying a 1911 myself—NOT because I disliked it and couldn’t shoot it, but because my wife disliked it and wasn’t comfortable with one. It was important to me that she be able to pick up my gun and fight with it if necessary if something happened to it, and she carries and is comfortable with Glock 9mms—specifically a G43 and a G19 which are hers. Therefore, I abandoned carrying my 1911, and began carrying a G19 (primarily). It was easier for me to adapt myself to the Glock's ergonomics than it was for her to get happy with the 1911's manual of arms and weight. And now that I’ve been carrying Glocks exclusively for a few years now, they no longer seem clunky or esthetically ugly to me, and I’m perfectly happy with carrying one. I still take my Springfield Loaded 1911 and my dad's old Ithaca 1911 to the range and enjoy shooting them, but I’m no longer interested in carrying one.AndyC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:13 pmWith that said, the 1911 (as much as I love it) isn't for most people; there are many other pistols out there which are better to serve those with short attention-spans, no mechanical ability/interest, infirmities of the wrists and the inability to shoot straight.
And of peripheral concern is this: if I am ever (God forbid) involved in a self defense shooting, it is probable that my gun would be confiscated by police......at least temporarily. In theory, it should be returned to me if the shooting is ruled justifiable and I’m either no-billed or acquitted. But I have very little confidence in the PD of any large metropolitan city doing the right thing and returning it to me expeditiously, without involving lawyers and threats. In the event that it was never returned to me at all, or that the cost of retaining an attorney to achieve its return was so high as to not make it a worthwhile endeavor, it would hurt my heart less if the gun in question were a Glock than a 1911. One is just a mechanical tool for self defense, the other is a mechanical piece of artwork with historical significance.
1911s make for far better BBQ guns than a Glock does, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a superior self defense gun than a Glock. Certainly, it’s no worse in the right hands, and in some hands it’s measurably better. But I fully agree with you that the 1911 isn’t for everyone, and my dear wife is proof of that. And that has nothing to do with whether or not it’s not suitable for women—just that it’s not suitable for some shooters.
